More refinements being added to the BRracing 135i project car.

This is both for performance, and for looks.

As many have noted from a performance perspective, the car suffers from understeer when driven hard. Most of that can be addressed through the extensive suspension modifications, both detailed here, and by so many others in other posts.
But, we would love to have more downforce, and that can usually be addressed with the addition of a front splitter or front lip.

We needed a piece that was both very pleasing to look at, great construction, and had the strength to endure when speeds of over 140mph are obtained on the track. At those speeds, huge amounts of downforce can be generated, and we needed to ensure we had a very stout piece that also had the right attachment elements/methods and overall strength.

We now have one, in the brand new single piece Vorsteiner CF front lip. It is a beautiful piece, built to the same exacting standards that Vorsteiner is known for, but they have also added some strength reinforcing elements to provide the strength and rigidity needed.

The pics show the wonderful fitment and tightness that can be achieved (attention needs to be taken if anyone undergoes the installation AND intends on using the splitter on the track, and we can provide some additional information on how the installation needs to be performed if this is ever to see track duty).

The next track outing for the car will be at our special event at Laguna Seca (BRracing has rented the track for our customer program along with bringing in our Professional Race driver friends to do individual instruction for our customer group).

Enjoy...and yes, we can get this beautiful piece for you.

I'm not a big fan of aftermarket body add-ons, but that is a nice looking piece. Let us know if it is equally functional.

Looks good but it looks like you need skirts to go with it in the 2nd shot. I personally think the iCarbon lip looks much nicer though, just my opinion.

That lip is huge! Definitely need some side skirts to make it complete.

+1. The lip either needs to be shorter or it needs extended sideskirts and some paint. The relatively large frontal area of the lip is distracting.

To let everyone know, the feedback is appreciated and welcomed. We too were thinking of painting the top portion of the lip but then decided to leave it. What may seem weird is that the base of the bumper is only lowered by maybe .5"-1" total and as such we have nto had any scraping issues.
I have responded to all inquiries through PM, if there is anyone we have missed please dont hesitate to let me know.
Thanks

Robb

Put some stickers or writing or something on the lip. Use it as advertising space- there's enough of it.

But the car as a whole kicks ass.

Car is off to track testing tomorrow (Monday) at Laguna Seca....have new Hoosiers and the front lip....want to see if we can lower the current lap time.
Will post pics and video after our event tomorrow...thanks for all the support and PMs and buyers of the new lip....
It has not had any issues w hitting speed bumps, dragging over steep driveways, and we have to have one of the lowest 135is around...so, other than staying away from parking lot bump stops, great on a daily driver

More updates.
Car ran at Laguna yesterday w the new front lip.
What a GREAT day...large group of customers, outstanding weather, no customer car issues, no off track excursions by any customers, and a fun time by the group (BRracing private track experience at Laguna Seca, March 15, 2010).
The new Vorsteiner front lip did OUTSTANDING. No issues....no rubbing, even on the high compression coming out of the corkscrew. And...no flexing, no bending, no fitment issues, AND great FRONTAL downforce from this new lip. Really helped in the key fast turns like 5, 6 and 9....WOO HOO.

Laguna Seca
1:39's for the 135i running new Hoosiers....(our 2010 GT3 was below 1:36)
LSD is now the limiting factor in going faster.
As our speed has increased, we are now getting to the critical decision...is this really more a DD or do we want a track star? It is more a DD right now, demonstrating how far you can go with this great car, and retain all the nice DD features and comforts, but we are starting to bottom out under hard braking and in the corkscrew, which would neccesitate stiffer springs, which would likely take it beyond the desired comfort for most as a DD...
We love the ride today, the look, the ride height, the responsiveness....it truly is an amazing car, and can play w almost anyone (the GT3 could still pull us in the fast turns, which is the fine tuning of the suspension and the LSD issue)...but just to say that we can play w a 2010 GT3 (I was driving our 135i, Robb was driving our GT3 in the side by side run) is an amazing statement.
