Clutch Slipping?
I have an 09 128i MT. Last night I was cruising at low RPM in 6th, when I gave it some more gas I noticed some definite hesitation - this is repeatable and only in 5th/6th gear at low RPM. I never felt this before and there is no CEL. I have 62k on the clock....
Does this sound like typical clutch slip? I'm going to order this, does anyone know if I might need anything else? http://www.ecstuning.com/BMW-E82-128...Kit/ES2627418/ Edit: If anyone knows any good shops/individuals in my area to do the labor, it would be greatly appreciated!! |

Slipping clutch would be a spike in revs in 6th gear at low RPMs when you give it gas, not a hesitation.
And if you are changing the clutch for other reasons, get the E90 330i version. OE fit/driveability while being able to handle more power.

Hi St|g! It is a spike in RPM actually - albeit a small one. That translates into an acceleration hesitation I meant. Thanks for the 330i tip, I'll look into that clutch kit.

I wouldn't consider any other shop in the area aside from them.

I know, I am the second owner. got it at 45k. In any event, I plan to do the CDV after the new clutch. On occasion I have misjudged when the clutch is engaged...so I think having the CDV out would be a positive

Just ask them to remove it while they are in there. It takes all of 5 minutes once its on the lift.

Let me know how they make out with it, I'm going to probably have mine at Bimmerworks for similar work in the next year or so.
