BMW West Island (Montreal) - First Contact

Hey guys,

Just thought I'd report on my first experience with BMW West Island in Montreal. They opened a couple of weeks ago and I called to schedule an appointment for my car. Everything went smoothly until I asked about a courtesy car or rental, to which the receptionist replied a rental is available at for a charge of $20. I said no other BMW charges $20 and she said they were all starting to do it because costs are high.

Called BMW Laval, asked the advisor there, and they said there's no charge since the manufacturer covers it as part of the warranty. Promptly changed my appointment from BMW WI to BMW Laval. No wonder they're #1 in Canada, and it's totally worth the drive.

I've seen people driving in courtesy cars before, but I have a feeling it's only the real high rollers that get them... like 5/7/M cars. I've seen 128's and 323's with "BMW Laval Courtesy Car" on them.

BMW Laval is awesome, that's where I go too. No reason to try WI or Canbec.

Tried Canbec, they had terrible service.
Bought my car from from Laval, nothing but excellence and no charge for a loaner.

One of the loaners was a 323i, the other was a Honda civic hybrid. So you might not always get a BMW... no biggie.

Not sure how Laval is with mods though.

Maranello in Vaughan doesn't charge, BUT there's a two week waiting period for a BMW loaner. A JOKE. If you want a loaner you have to book 2 weeks in advance, otherwise you'll end up with a cobalt or another pos.

20$ for loaner but fantastic service ! ! ! Went to West Island BMW with my wife's car. Awesome service. Appointment in less than 48 hrs. They are actually finishing a GYM upstairs that customers could use (showers too !). And salesman all look sharp. The one I talked with speaks french, english and polish. Highly recommanded.

- Every dealership has bilingual reps. I was greeted in french every time I called BMWWI, but they switched to english when I spoke it (expected since the west island is about 70% english). You got a polish guy. Maybe next time you get an italian guy. Wowee.

- If there's an open slot in less than 48 hours, you're going to get it. It's not like they bumped someone or hired a new mechanic to give you a fast appointment. I was offered an appointment 6 days later. It's luck of the draw.

- Why would I want to work out at BMW?

I'm not saying they don't have the potential for good. All I'm saying is that $20 when everyone else charges $0 is bogus. The manufacturer covers all warranty work, there's no reason for them to be charging for a loaner!

1 post wonder indeed...
