What oil is everyone running in their N52?

What brand of oil? Weight? Viscosity?

BMW (Castrol) 5W-30 is what I currently run.

I'm considering switching to Mobil 1 0W-40 this coming winter.

BMW 5w30 for a long time. Just recently decided to give German Castrol 0w30 a shot. Thinner is always better for reducing warm up wear, which is majority of engine wear.

Castrol 0W-30 here. Mobil 1 0W-40 is an excellent oil. Not to mention Wally World has it on sale now for $22.66 for a 5Q jug.

Where are you buying that at? And for what price if you don't mind me asking.

Just off Amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/Castrol-06244-...=castrol+0w-30

I'm sure you can do better, but given how much free time I have and coupled with my Prime account, it is hard to say no to having it delivered to my door.

If you want to go the Amazon route, Pennzoil Ultra Euro 5W-40 is an excellent oil choice as well. If you subscribe for 6 month deliveries, you can get 6Q for around $36 or so. I've seen it down to around $32 as well every so often and you can cancel your subscription when you want.

I'm also currently using BMW 5w30 oil. Don't feel a real need to change brands right now.

I'm currently using 5W-30, going to switch it to 0W-30 or 0W-40 next as it seems like a good idea from what I'm hearing

I want thinner. Price isn't really the concern. Everything seems cheap when it's 7 quarts instead of 15 quarts.

True. 0W should give you better cold start protection (and 30W supposedly better gas mileage).

A 15Q sump is huge. And here I thought 7Q was a bit much.

Yup, and that's what I want for a daily.

15qts of 20w50 with zinc/phosphorus for my flat tappet needs.

BMW 5W-30; changes done at dealership until it's out of warranty, and probably still done there afterwards due to BMW CCA discount.

I laugh when people talk about "air cooled" porches, no, they are oil cooled.

Indeed.

Oil tank into the dry sump that is then pumped around the car and through the oil coolers in the front and then works its way back.

And technically, our cars are cooled in part by oil as well.
