Question How much should I sell my 135i for?

2009 Alpine White 135i Coupé
55,500 Miles (75-80% highway)
Black Leatherette
Black Gloss Trim
Manual Transmission (6-Speed)
Spoiler Delete

Options:
Rear Parking Sensors
Heated Seats
Sport Package (Non M-Sport)

~Clear History Report / CarFax~

What else do I need to add to this?
This being my first car ever, I have never sold one either.
What should I know?

KBB, Nadaguides, Edmunds, etc., show my car as being worth one amount, but what is the demand on these really?
I want to get an estimate at what I should be trying to get for it.

*This is not an ad to sell my car; however...*

(EDIT: I completely forgot about the sport package!)

If you're able to hold onto it, I really would. You're going to take a BEATING on it. You're not even going to get $26k.

You're completely out of warranty and high mileage (won't appeal to a lot of the gear heads), but also almost optionless and no luxury stuff, so won't appeal to the any of the cheap luxury folks.

I couldn't find anyone actually interested in buying my loaded up 08 with 20k miles at 26k. Really if you need to sell it, I wouldn't hope for anymore than 25k, just to be honest with you

I'm trying to get it ready to sell since I'm moving up to a 1M.
This is the plan, at least.
I'm only holding off until I get word of getting a build for my car.

Just my guess.
It's manual.

alright, that does help a lot then.

I don't know how trade in and taxes work in CA, but i'd probably recommend that avenue if you get a benefit from it for the 1M.

out of warranty the bmw dealership will probably give you only a couple thousand less than private party, and hopefully you'd save the tax?

I'm going to try and sell it for $23,500. Is this a good starting point or should I start slightly more?

While I was at my BMW dealership getting my recall work done, I asked about trading my car in. They recommended me try the private party route. I think trading in would be easier but I am not sure how much I'd even get for it.

Have the dealer give you a price on a trade. In fact insist on it. This will be generally a wholesale price. From there you can ask for a bit more on a private sale, perhaps an additional $1500. You never say how much you owe on it or if you own it outright. This could make a huge difference.

do you get a sales tax deduction for cars if you trade in? if so trade in, or at least ask for a number.

I'd definitely start it listed at 25k and go from there. (edit this post and remove your bottom line )

yep, trade in values are drastically diffferent and can sometimes be alot closer to private party than you'd think

I'll try to do both and see what I can get for it.

This is also why I haven't said on this board how much I still owe.
