Goodbye Run-Flats!
For the second time in my first 3 months of ownership, my front tire bubbled up and damaged the sidewall. RFT's are not made for the NYC area.
Hankook Ventus V12's are on the way. What can I expect with this change? Better ride quality? Improved handling? |

This might sound like a stupid question but I'm not sure on the rules for rft's.
If the stock tires are dismounted, can I re-use them? I would like to return my car to stock with these tires in the future. Is that possible? |

what sizes of Hankooks did you order? I was going to go with 225 and 255 but couldn't find any 255s on tirerack.

The first time I blew out a tire I took it to the dealer to get replaced. After $469 and a sore anus, I made a pact that I would change the run-flats completely if it ever happened again.

Just got my Hankook Ventus V12's installed. Pretty significant difference with regard to ride quality. It no longer feels like I'm driving on stone wheels when I drive over bumps. My 135i is now the perfect car.

I swapped out the run flats for PS2's last week. What a difference just tires can make. Grip is there and the ride is much smoother. People that I didn't tell have commented as well.
Enjoy your tires bro. |

This may be true, but presumably you'd only use the goop in a situation where you couldn't refill the tire and limp home or rely on roadside assist. In short, you'd only use it in an emergency. A TPMS sensor is about $60. That's well worth sacrificing to get yourself out of an emergency situation.

Slight noise at speeds under 10 mph for the first week I had them on. The noise has since vanished.
I put on a total of 500 miles on the tires already. Highway and city driving. Grip is noticeably better. Tire noise has decreased significantly. I no longer wince when I hit a pothole. My daily commute consists of a 7 mile drive on some of the worst roads in NJ. Bumps and potholes made a mockery out of the rft's. The Hankook's completely changed my commute for the better. |
