Question Trunk Drawer -- Does yours have one?

E90ers,
My new 325i does not include an organizer drawer in the top of the trunk. I could have sworn the demonstrator had one and owner's manual shows the drawer. I checked at the dealer and they don't know.

Any idea who gets this "accessory?" Was mine deleted because I have the fold-down rear seats?

Ja, if you purchase this accessory, you will have it!

It is not standard.

BMW offers a variety of trunk organizer tools, all illustrated in the accessories catalogue for the 3er.

No you had to specify it when the car was built. It is an option and it is not standard on any E90 model. Also you can still have it with fold down seats.

100% option.

I wish I got it.

It's in the aftersales accessory catalog. Can be added AFAIK.

As far as I know it can be added later on but with some obvious modifications that has to be done like drilling of some holes etc. Mountings that has to be put in place to hold the weigth which is about 5 kilograms that the tray could hold

Interesting comments -- and thanks for the quick responses. I spent 45 minutes with the dealer here in Stuttgart and he could not find the drawer in the online parts catalogs -- although they had the cargo nets, boxes, etc. Not sure what we were missing -- but also not sure I'll add it at this point.

Anyone care to comment on the utility of the tray? (Easy to use? What do you usually keep in it?)

They were able to order the Park Distance Control kit which will be installed next week. Before they ordered, they needed to check the iDrive system, but decided mine is OK to install.

I think it might rattle and also it blocks putting larger things into the trunk. I chose a pop-up tray instead.

Dealer guy must be blind, its easy to find the tray retrofit on the parts system

Most people ive talkd to that have it dont really like it ( so I didnt order it )

Most common complaint is that whatever you put in it slides around and makes noise, and the tray makes the rest of the trunk smaller

It's expensive (for what it is), a bugger to install and further restricts the already tight trunk opening, because it doesn't slide back far enough when closed. A waste of money, IMO.

My car came with one (bought off the lot). I used to keep a fold up umbrella in it, and then I got sick of it sliding around. I stuffed the drawer with balled up plastic grocery bags and it stopped the umbrella from sliding, however, the drawer itself slides (bangs) front and back. It's now sitting on a shelf in my garage. I do however use the pop-up (fold-up) box cargo organizer that also came in my trunk.

I agree that the drawer costs too much for such a little value not to mention take up trunk space.

Whoa whoa whoa whoa....

I have the tray. I bought it after I took delivery of my car. Installation is by thumbscrews and takes, oh, maybe 15-20 seconds?

Mine doesn't rattle very much, although it does rattle a bit more when the laptop is placed in there.

It really doesn't take much space in the trunk at all. Not zero, but not much either.

It should NOT slide back and forth. It will "click" into position. Try pressing it in a bit harder.

I love this kit. Perfect place for the laptop, just be aware you won't be able to use a huge bag. If I need the space for more stuff, it comes out in the same 15-20 seconds.

Whoa... you were able to install the PDC kit after you got your car?
I have to check on this!

How does one install it? Thanks!
