AC Schnitzer Remap - 360bhp

I was at the British Motorshow yesterday in London and had a chat to one of the AC Schnitzer engineers on their stand.

Their stand was pretty cool with a AC Schnitzer 135i convertible and a Mini Cooper S, both in white.

I asked him about their remap / ECU and he told me a bit of information, but no pricing:

- Available September 08
- 360bhp (no torque figure)
- Remap, no piggyback
- Can only be remapped by sending to the AC Schnitzer factory in Germany
- Will take about a week in total - send, remap and post back
- Will need doing again if flashed by your dealer

I was not very impressed. The ECU in the 135i is not easy to access and they recommended using your dealer to remove as it will void the car's warranty if you don't.

BUT, if I do that my dealer will know I have a remap

Not very happy, was hoping that this would be an option in the UK - I really cannot see them selling this product in the UK, in Germany it could work, but not over here, and not likely in the US unless you live near a AC Schnitzer distributor / dealer.

That suck that we would have to send ECU to Germany for remap.

I have looked at this option. Here in NZ the Schnitzer stuff is backup by BMW, so at the moment this is the only tune you can get that keeps the factory warranty. Pricey though and doesn't seem to be that great gains wise.

From memory when I was looking at the catalog the tune includes having to get the Schnitzer rear muffler and a Schnitzer mod to the gauges (320kph speedo or something?). Annoying thats partly why it's so expensive cause it's not just a tune.

Moff!

Link: http://www.p-torque.co.uk/
We are able to re-map the ECU's software via your BMW's OBD port, without removal of the ECU, and without the need for an 'add on'' tuning box.

P-Torque are the only UK tuner to be offering this service.

Thanks!

£900 is quite pricey for a remap, but going to investigate further.

This is the first company that I have seen that can remap from the OBD port...

No,

The first company in the world is MRC Tuning in UK and soon in France.

It was the best mapper 2007 in EU.

My 135i will go in this hands.

They do, their new designs are a joke, a bad one, not funny at all.

I would get the ACS remap if I had more money then sense, they are decent all round. You will get similar results from any good mapper, without the issues. If I am not mistaking you are in the UK. Why not pick up a copy of BMW Performance Magazine and look for a BMW software specialist. :iono:

DMS is probably the best BMW software specialist in the UK, but they have been working on the *35i engine for sometime now with no joy.

I am waiting for a 360bhp remap that can be hidden from my dealer and easily reapplied if the ECU is flashed - also one that does not require the removal of the ECU in the first place.

HURRY UP DMS!!

Hi,

I drive the Ac Schnitzer tune. One word: great! AC Schnitzer = BMW Rennsport. Schnitzer has offcourse first hand BMW information about the software they use in the 3TT engine. Guaranty fully approved by BMW. Installation in Aachen Germany. The car was one week in Aachen (I live nearby Aachen/Germany). Like BMW, AC Schnitzer tells the 'at least' power numbers. So 355 bhp you will always get. Don't be fooled by some numbers or dyno's or what ever.

I have the reprogrammed Schnitzer ECU (customised on my car!), exhaust, speedo-meter (320kmh), new suspension and guaranty by BMW/AC Schnitzer. What more do you want. Especially the suspension is amazingly good.

Some real live numbers?
- 0 to 100 km/h 4.8s
- 0 to 200 km/h 16.7s

Ofcourse, it can always faster, and faster, and faster... If you are looking for a very fast, complete reliable and superb handling car, then go for the AC Schnitzer.

Very happy with it.

those numbers are very conservative too, because motor trend over here got a 135i coupe to 60 mph in 4.6 secs, so it can prob do 4.8 to 62 ie 100 km/h stock, with the tune you have you're probably more like 4.2-4.3- it seems bmw puts the advertised numbers about .5 secs too high, glad to hear good things about it. How much did the tune cost you and for anyone else that may know, where can I get it?

Hi all,

Numbers conservative? (yes, I thin they are, but that's likewise BMW. We all know that the 135i gives appr. 320 bhp.)

Costs: yes, Euro 6.000,- (If you do it business wise, it's -VAT 19% less here in Holland).

What do you get:
1. 360PS / 520Nm (at least)
2. VMax off
3. Speedometer 320 km/u
4. Schnitzer exhaust
5. Schnitzer suspension (complete)
6. Ensurence (guaranty) fully approved by BMW
7. Including rent a car (for me, one week
8. Working hours: test driving by M. Wolfgarten and software specified to your specific car).

After all, on what you can see on the list. It is a reasonable price.

Schnitzer is a fully authorized BMW dealer (Kohl gruppe). Authorised specialised BMW engineers are working on your car. LOL. shortly: a very professional (race)company. Like I said: Schnitzer = BMW Rennsport.

The suspension is amazing!!

so then you can't just buy the software, you have to have the whole kit done?
