Exclamation My new exhaust review (Dixis)

Here's a short clip. The windows are up when I was driving.

Car 2009 135i
Exhaust: Dixis custom exhaust.
Result was astonishing.

I guess some background would be nice for the car. I've been driving bmw for a decade (323i) And I've driven about 220,000 miles (cars and motorcycles) I never owed a turboed car until now. And I never knew you could eliminate turbo lag with just an exhaust. The exhaust can be heard any RPM below 2700. Between 2700 and 4000, all I hear is the engine. The power between 1500-3000 feel linear. I haven't brought it up to redline yet since there's 590 miles on the car. I will dyno the car once it's got a few more miles on it.

As I said before, I've never owned a turbo-ed car before. Driven friend's scooby before and rode in it in college. I expected to have lag and there were few and not too bad at all for the 135i. As we all know, under 3000 rpm there's hesitation when you get on the throttle. Well that is all gone with the exhaust which is bolt on axle back.

As far as price goes, I'm not gonna complain on spending $2000 on a part for my $45,000 car. Please excuse me for not trying to find the cheapest exhaust possible. The exhaust is hand made and made to order. All the parts are titanium and the 2 bolts that came with it are stainless steel.

yes its pretty
"look look it has rainbows on it!!! oooOOOooh ahhhhh.."-said the 2 little girls from down the street walking by on the sidewalk.

Weight wise, I did the whole standing on scale thing and the stock exhaust is about 35 lbs and this one is about 15 or less.

Pictures~

Most expensive axleback I've seen, but I love the burnt tips! Are you going to get any sound clips?

I'll try to get some sound clips. I dont like clips with just car revving so I'm trying to figure something out with my camcorder.

Something in the car with the windows up would be great.

Looks amazing, sadly you will probably get flamed by people for spending so much. There was a thread a few weeks back about the single tip Dixis exhaust and there were lots of haters....probably people just jealous they don't have the 2k to drop on a beautiful piece of titanium. The build quality and fitment looks amazing...I can't say the same for my RR exhaust.

Can't wait to hear sound clips! Congrats!

Beautiful exhaust and you can tell the quality of it by the welds.

2k is much for an axleback, but you know what, eisanmann is $1800 retail and it's not even Ti...

Enjoy it...

I was inspired by that thread to get this exhaust.
Here's Andrew's 135 from Australia with the same exhaust. He has a few youtube clips. But he's got way more mods than me. You can hear how quiet the exhaust is at high RPM

I know I'm gonna end up getting more parts from Dixis in the future. Right now I have no problem with the lacking of power from my car.

Curious, what drew you to a Japanese tuner for your BMW? Why not German or American.

I just cant understand the cost of this thing and the burnt tip look may be for some but I think it looks like ass.

If you are going to spend the big bucks why not go with one of the premium German tuners?

here's an american "tuner" for you
http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...246580&page=10

as far as german tuners go, I wanted something different and custom.
IMO that is the whole point of modding a car. Make it yours, personalize it.
I wanted titanium so I went with Dixis. Burnt tips are signatures of titanium exhaust. I like titanium, I like burnt tips.
Also since its all hand made. I know Japanese people and I know the work and quality that comes with that culture. Unlike any other country, Japanese are proud of what they make regardless if its car parts or food.
My 120 yen sushi I had in Kyoto tasted better than any $10 sushi I had anywhere in the USA. Haven't had sushi in Germany yet tho. I'll let you know if it taste better than any Japanese ones.

Hey! I take offense when you group that tuner with the other American tuners!

If you were to say German only, I can see your point, due to this car being built in Germany...but once you added American tuner, then I
ask you why not Japanese?

While, I can't dish out 2k for an axle back exhaust, but with the quality,
and material used on this...I say it's worth it.

Again...as mentioned before...the Eisenman is also axle back and asking 1800 retail for it and it's not even Ti material. And looking at the welds, it doesn't look like quality to me.

I may be stating the obvious, but there isn't a linear correlation between price and quality.

Next time you're in Kyoto, try their bratwurst and tell us if they're better than the E5 ones I've had in Germany.
