The END of BMW Driver Training in Aus!

Just returned from the Advanced II course in Phillip Island where I was informed by Geoff Brabham during his course wrap up that "this is the last year the BMW Driver Training will be held at this stage!" Canned, by BMW Aus due to "costs", like other programmes within the organisation that have had "budget" cutbacks!

The bad news is that there are maybe 1 or 2 places left (just checked availability online) for Eastern Creek... that's it.

NOT HAPPY JAN!

He mentioned that if you were not impressed, disappointed or wanted to take a course then email:

bmwdrivertraining@bmw.com.au (don't have a go at these guys though they just run the training)

AND let your BMW dealer Principals know about it too

Oh yeh, if you are buying or have an M car you will get a complimentary voucher for the training, guess what it is no longer valid due to the courses demise! Get MAD.

Well I lucked out....when you buy an M3 you are supposed to get a M3 driver training day courtesy of BMW but that ended in June, just after I bought my M3. Trouble is, they aren't coming to WA in 2009...so fat lot of good that was!

Just glad I got to do the Advanced II in 2008.....that played a big part in my decision to go for an M3. This is the thing BMW need to realise....allowing drivers to experience cars like the M3 just may end in a sale!! But then that's too proactive.

I'm going to PI on Friday for a BMW Melbourne organised driver day (condensed version of Advance II in half a day) and was hoping to followup with another session.... what a shame.

Exactly. The courses are a loss leader for M car sales for BMW.

Especially Advanced II where you get to "sample" the M3 after driving the 325 all day. It just leaves you hungry for more.

I did stage twoa good few years ago at Eastern Creek and we drove M3 all day---it seems BMW have wound down the programme over the years and now nothing.

MOTOR magazine advises it is now!

Not that I'd buy either (what good are they going to be offroad and why buy an SUV if you don't go offroad?), but given a choice I'd definitely pick the 5 over the fugly four seater 6.

Aus135i, I am getting the X5M. No intention of ever going off road, missus just wants more space for baby stuff and when her parents are in the car with us. Normal X5 not enough fun for me, so X5M it is.
