Introduction! E92 328i to E82 135i
Hi everyone! Long time E90post-er here, recently hopped into a 2012 135i!
I wanted to introduce myself on this side of the forums and also get some input from the vets around here! Very glad to still be in the BMW family I honestly was not shopping for 135's AT ALL. But I came across this babe on auto trader, one thing led to another... And here we are now. So far I cannot get enough of this ride, all I can think about is driving her. Even more so than when I got my 328i (my first bimmer). The quick n dirty: Space Grey over Coral Red M sport DCT Prof. Idrive Harman Kardon with some sort of aftermarket Amp installed in the trunk? BMW Performance Power Kit Carbon Fiber Mirrors, performance spoiler, performance diffusor. Performance Side skirts Black grills w/ red scoops Some sort of aftermarket exhaust(need to get under the car and take a good look) Cusco Strut brace bar Vorshlag camber plates, with what seems like OE struts/springs. (What's the benefit here?) To be honest there might be more modifications, the dealer only had it on the lot for 2 days and didn't know crap about it besides that the original owner was meticulous about this car. (1 owner BTW!) So here's where i was looking for some help guys: Is there anyway to verify the visual performance parts are genuine BMW? Can I expect to DIY most maintenance like I did on my N52 328? She just hit 70k, anything I should do ASAP? Is walnut blasting as necessary with the N55 as with N54? Is there anyway to verify what service bulletins/recalls have been done? Also been noticing the DCT is kinda jerky when close to a stop, without my foot on the brake, is this normal? Never had a DCT before! Also was feeling some weird fluctuations when fully stopped, but the rpm were not moving with it. (maybe related to the DCT concern above?) I know this post is mouthful! (sorry) But I'm sure you guys are just as kind to help as the E90 crowd! So thanks in advance! P.S. BMS Intake and Oil Catch Can should be coming in this week. P.P.S. Pic of my E92

Welcome to 1ADDICTS! Great looking car and nice upgrades.
There are known software problems with some (not all) cars with the DCT. Throttle lag, idle fluctuation and lurching forward issues. Check out this thread for more info: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1033690 Here is a link to BMW's recall site: http://www.bmwusa.com/standard/conte...eoverride=true I'm sure some other members will chime in with some more helpful info for you. Good luck.

So it seems the DCT issues may be able to be addressed with this software update... Is this something I can figure out if its been done? Or do i have to go to the dealer to find out?

If you were not under warranty, you would have to pay for the update. I think it's about a 2 hour labor charge.

Welcome, looks like a nice set of wheels!
The walnut blasting thing is a bit of a mystery on the n55's... no one has a straight answer and there don't seem to be any before/afters from n55 owners out there.

Welcome here. 70k miles is when N54 water pumps are nearing the end of their lives. I doesn't remembers if that's the same for the n55s. Good luck with the new whip. Sounds like a winner, and I'm glad to hear you're happy.
Happy Motoring.
