other parts needed for an suspension install?

Hi guys,

I searched and read through several threads regarding installing new suspension on my 135. I wanted to double check and makes sure that I had all the parts required before tearing down my car.

I am doing:
Koni yellows, BMW Performance yellow springs, Dinan rear shock mounts, oem shortened bump stops, M3 front control arms/headlight adjusting arms. I am going to reuse all the stock mounting hardware I can.

My question is whether I need any other parts (gaskets/mounts/etc) to install the parts. ie are any of my mounting hardware incompatible with my new setup?

thanks in advance

Just a helpful suggestion... Make sure you order the correct rear shock mounts. Dinan offers two sizes (10mm and 12mm I think). I believe Koni shocks require the larger size, but you should definitely confirm with Dinan.

I don't know if with the koni's you'll need a different top nut in the front. I know with my kw's i needed new ones and different ones.

I would make sure to have all the bolts and nuts check which can be reused which have to be replaced.

Depending on miles, you may want to replace the rubber spring perches and dust boots with fresh ones. The Koni struts definitely take a different top nut from stock. If the nuts don't come with the strut, make sure you get some before starting the job. I think if I were doing it all over again, I probably would have bought new hats, spring perches, and dust boots and pre-assembled the new struts as a complete units and left the old stock struts assembled. I like to put my stock parts in storage in case I ever want to go back to stock. Once you take apart the front struts, you'll have to take them to a shop to have them reassembled. The stock springs are too long and the stock struts won't stay extended. It's virtually impossible to reassemble the stock struts with a garage mechanic spring compressor.

Regular Koni sports=10mm
Dinan's top adjust Koni sports=12mm
