Just picked this up last week. It's my forth BMW but my first new one. It's a left over 2012 135i. Loving it so far. I'm coming from a Mustang 5.0 coyote, and I still think this car is more fun.

What's your plan with the stock wheels? Are you willing to sell?

Change the oil first!!!!! 1200 miles isn't a magic # that gets rid of all of the break in metals!

Or let the thrashing begin! Either way, enjoy and let us know what you think.

Hello all,

I just wanted to stop in and say hello. I placed my order for a 135is a couple weeks ago. Here are the specs:

Mineral Grey/Coral Red
DCT
Premium Pack
HK Sound
BMW Assist with bluetooth (Had to have with HK, any idea why?)
Heated Seats

Shes in production right now and I should be picking it up at the performance center on August 2nd. This is my third BMW (1991 318is, 1998 M3 Sedan) but I'm really excited about this one! I'll post pics from the delivery center and such.

Cheers!

Did you find blackline "135is" emblem? Or do they look darker due to shadows?

Haha...yeah, that's good advice. If I owned the car, I would follow it. But, it's a 24 mo lease so I'll let BMW change the oil on their schedule.

Yea, 5 years does that. I had a 323i that had a more "aggressive" stance than current models.

That said, stock m-sport 135s (same as IS) need a drop. I can't bring myself to do it until the stock setup is finished though.
It's also the same suspension as the plain non m-sport 135. The normal 135 the m-sport and IS all share the same "sport"suspension. That's why I kinda feel that the m-sport pack is a bit of a rip off especially now that you can get the seats as a stand alone option.

Congrats! That will be an awesome time @ delivery. You've got two wonderful former rides, too. Hopefully the E82 will stack up to those two for you.

So, I have been lurking for a few months waiting for my Le Mans blue 135is convertible to arrive. I picked it up last night from BMW of Ridgefield (CT) and not 2 1/2 miles from the dealer the low coolant light pops on and then the warning to say the car was overheating. I pulled over immediately with steam rising out the side of the hood and coolant leaking under the car!

What a nightmare! The dealership have taken the car back and I am currently awaiting a prognosis.

As I switched off the car I checked the oil temperature on the gauge and it was reading 250 degrees, which is half way. The cannot have been running more than 10 minutes, do you think there could be any lasting damage?

More to come...

Sorry to hear about your problems. I hope to be picking mine up from Ridgefield soon. Did you happen to see a white 135is coupe? I was hoping to pick it up this weekend but have yet to hear if it has arrived at the dealer. Mine was on the TOMBARRA, which ship was your on?
Also, did they install your front plate bracket? I am contemplating whether or not to have them install it. I know it is law in CT to run both plates but i like the clean look. I haven't found any alternatives for mounting that i like but don't want to risk being pulled over/ticketed.

Teething Issues with 135is due to shoddy port work.

Sorry to read you had the same issue! That issues occurred to me on the way home from the dealer after the clutch relay was fixed (was causing feedback issues in the stereo) as well as a sensor recalibrated that was causing the stability control to be disabled (warning light in the center stack). I was cruising down Route 2 here in CT and same thing, saw steam when I pulled off. My engine normally runs around 250, so I'm thinking you're OK.

For all 135is owners, the port of entry crew is doing terrible work as this issue gets traced to them and is UNSAT on new cars.

I had to abandon my car in a parking lot, call road side assistance, and get a lift. Note, the techs at my dealer (won't say which) left the maintenance ticket open and offered me performance springs for free. I chose two BMW jackets, a sun shade and M sport cap instead...about $400 in gear. I'd push for something similar with your dealer. In my fist week of ownerhsip the car was in the shop more than in my garage.

You'll love the car once all the bugs are worked out!

Wow! I didn't know this issue was so common. When I first test drove the 135is, it was a vert. As I was pulling onto the highway the sales rep was urging me to really get on the gas. A couple of miles into the highway the car throws a low coolant code and goes into limp mode.

It must be a common occurrence with these cars as my dealership was on the west coast.

To be more specific from my incident, there is a coolant hose that comes loose underneath the car and the coolant just spills right out. Being new to BMWs, I saw a warning icon while on the highway, but wasn't for sure what it was. A minute later I pull off the highway and see steam and it all makes sense. The coolant hose is adjusted or swapped out at the port of entry as part of the "is" package. Too bad the mods are not fully completed in Germany.

Several others have reported on the electronic stabilty control loss warning light, which seems to be a common miss as well. Something to do with a mis-calibrated sensor...so whoever is doing that work is missing it.

The faulty clutch relay driving stereo feedback seems to be a one-off issue.

Anyway, break-in miles are complete on my car. Had the oil changed at 1,500 miles when I could finally get back to the dealer and have been hammering it since. I've in no way perfected my 6MT launch, but I'm having fun practicing!

The BMW of Ridgefield guys had the car fixed and brought it around to my house at 2:30pm today. The issue was caused by a coolant pipe not seated properly on the bulkhead connector and as the car came up to temperature, the pressure blew the pipe off the connector altogether. Instant loss of coolant! I've seen the check sheet that shows no fault codes are still present in the car and they've offered me something pretty special (if it comes off) to make up for my inconvenience. I'll post more when I have this confirmed.

I bought from these guys as I have been very happy with the service on my 2009 535i Wagon and I have found that they do consistently good work, are very helpful and not too pushy.

Overall, I think they have done as good a job in the circumstances as was possible and I would still recommend them to anyone for service or purchase.

I did not see a white 135is coupe out there, but I confess I was not looking for one and they do have a lot of cars around on the lot. My car was on the Mignon and docked at NY terminal on May 18. It arrived at the dealer on Wednesday morning and I picked it up last night (briefly!). Good luck with yours.

I did have them fit the front plate, mostly because a mate of mine just got a ticket last week for not having one on his Audi A3 and I'm from the UK where they'll put you in jail for life for not having one! To me, it looks fine and is not that big of a deal.

I have only been able to go out for a quick 10 minute spin so far, but the car feels great. I have been holding out for years for an M3, but finally came to accept that is not going to happen any time soon. I decided to give the 1 series a try and I think I'm going to be very happy with my decision.
