Car part identify

Hi, I found this block of metal on my driveway. Several cars other than my 1 park here but just curious if this is actually a car part and whether it could have come from my car. Any help is appreciated.

Looks like it was from an American made car... maybe something with the leaf springs?

Any speed bumps around your place? Maybe it is a part of some sort of "lift kit" ? Looks like a prehistoric part if you ask me!

Take it with you the next time you go in for service. Ask your dealer if it is covered under warranty.

You see a chunk or rusty metal on your driveway and you assume that it is from your $40K sports car?

So then would a brick fall out of a lp640?

That's leaf springs mate, pretty easy to tell that one.

So don't be afraid, it's not from your 1er!

Well I didn't assume one way or the other, it just happened to be UNDER my car when I backed out of the driveway. If you read my original post I'm not insisting it is a part of the car one way or the other, I'm just reaching out to the community to see if anyone can help identify it for sure.

C'mon, its the "ask the Internet to guess the rusty piece of metal" game. Its not like I have anyone else to ask besides my fellow 1Addicts. BTW, thanks for the help so far guys. Except you onefastman, if it isn't from a 1er what is it form?

BTW, if seatbelts can catch fire, HPFPs die after 2,000 miles, dealerships leave shipping blocks in your wheels, who knows WHAT can happen! (yeah, okay maybe having rusty blocks of metal falling out from underneath the car is still a stretch)

Thought about that. A Purolator (courier company) came by to deliver a package the other day but usually they just park on the side of the road and not in driveways so I sort of wrote it off as a possibility. I guess its a shorter leap of logic to assume a rusty delivery truck parked in my driveway and left a piece of metal than to assume it came from any car in my household, especially my 1. Still, weird as heck.

Note: I didn't witness the truck come, I'm only assuming since someone else in the household received a package a few days before I saw the piece. Still, I'm sure I would have noticed it before.

It's not a spring - but looks to be the wedges for the centre bolt part of a leaf spring system. Most probably for a trailer looking at the weight that it would be carrying.

There's nothing in that link that's even close to the item pictured here other than that it's the same material and it's rusted.

This isn't part of a leaf spring. It's way too short.

This appears to be the driver. Unfortunately someone has vandalised the first letter of his surname by adding an extra loop.

Cheers,
Alf
