Xenon bulb replacement
Say that one of my Xenon headlamp bulbs "burns out", is this something that can be easily and relatively cheaply replaced out and done by myself?
I've heard talk that the whole Headlamp assy needs to be replaced, however at $1400 each I can't see this being something that BMW would engineer. Therefore I have to think that the bulb has to be replacable. Can anyone help? Thanks |

HID bulbs are not cheap. However, you can just replace the bulb if it burns out, not the whole headlamp unit. Plus you want to replace them in pairs because a new HID bulb next to one that has more hours on it will not match...good news is HID bulbs last much longer than regular halogen bulbs, around 2000 hours.
Danny.

THAT'S A LIE!!! When the bulbs burn out, you must replace the car. Or ship it back to Munich to get it replaced.
hahaha....j/k...but i never thought anybody would ask this question...it's like..."how do I turn the steering wheel?"

They need to remove the wheel and wheel arch liner to get access to the Xenon unit, and then replace the bulb. No need to remove bumper or headlight

Its not reccomended to work on Xenons if you dont know what you are doing because of the very large voltages involved

Fleet,
That is not a good design if you can't replace the xenon bulb and have to take it back to dealer for service.
