Double lock not working?

On my 1995 325i, if I lock my car from the remote the car doors can't be opened from the inside, even if you pull the handle twice. This was nice because if someone broke your window they couldn't open the door to get in. As far as I know newer BMWs are the same.

I expected this feature to carry through my 2011 135i. Even in the manual it states "Do not lock the vehicle from the outside if there is any person inside, because the vehicle cannot be unlocked from inside without special knowledge".

However, I tried locking the 135i with my remote and I can still open the doors by pulling them twice.

Does anyone have their 135i working as the manual states? Window break-ins are common here and I'd like to make sure they can't open the door when the car is locked.

If I sit inside my car and lock with the remote, the door (still) opens with two pulls. It's interesting (to me, at least) that it unlocks if I then insert the key (or just get it close enough to the holder for the car to see it).

They may have changed this feature, as if you don't have the keys you can get locked inside the car.

If they break the window they don't need to open the door to access the car. Just climb through lol. It's a useless feature and probably why it isn't used anymore.

You can still unlock with the center console - I think they made that change after 2000.

Significantly more effort to climb through broken glass and back out. This feature makes a huge difference for those who live in major urban areas.

I believe it's still in modern BMW's but not working in 135i for some reason. Despite even the manual mentioning it.

If I remember correctly it's a feature that can be coded on/off. I'm sure someone will chime in here re: how to do it. Maybe the dealer can change it?

My friend's 03 X5, if you lock someone in with the remote, they are locked in for good, everything is disabled. My car is not like that.

Yes, I can code it if it's possible - haven't yet found if it is yet..
