Lame got t boned and need opinions
So Someone ran a red light and hit me yesterday on the back right passenger side/wheel area with a Chevy astro van. Sucks id show you pics but don't know how to post on here. The car has 17k in damages but was told it wouldn't be totaled. I am curious if anyone knows how to go about gettin the 1m panels for a full conversion. Hope everyone is driving safe my amazing fellow 1ers!
Thanks in advance Kevin |

Sorry for your accident - here is a parts list thread I made after my conversion. phil@Reevesbmw hooked me up with most my parts and Jon@bmwpartspros sent me the big stuff like bumpers, fenders, etc.

I got t-boned in a new 328i loaner because the driver ran a red light and somehow didn't see me or the other car that she hit. I think she must have been texting.

17k is a LOT in damage... that should be a total. sucks that it happened to a great car, and I am glad you're okay.
See if your insurance company can send someone else out, get a 2nd opinion. If there is any frame or sub-frame damage, that could make the car unsafe to drive, and at the worst un-fixable. yikes. |

17k isn't necessarily a total as it depends how old the car is and my sense is he has a 2012 or 2013, unless he got it used. I had $25k in damage on a 2 year-old 135 and they didn't total it, though they said it was close.
I did find out though that BMW has certain components of our car's frame that are replaceable in the front and rear, so even if those parts of the frame are damaged, they can put in a new piece. Would I want to drive it afterwards? I don't know. I turned mine in soon afterwards cause I didn't feel safe, though it looked good as new. |
