Ssk installed: 5th and 6th difficult

Hey guys
I installed the ssk with the kink pointed toward the front of the car and pointed to the rear...

Fifth and sixth is still difficult and does not re-center itself into neutral

The only way I think I can figure this out is if I have someone shift the gears while I am underneath to see if it rubs or hits anything

I have a feeling maybe 5th and 6th are just difficult gears
1,2,3,4 seem to be amazing though!

Thoughts please!

It might just be time for a test drive. Can you engage reverse gear? That is always the hardest one to get into - post ssk. The shifter will get slicker with some mile in it.

I just installed the same thing, it was a pain since you have to remove the midpipe and shields to install the carrier. There is a increase in shift force (likely 80/55~146%) for all gears. I have not noticed anything particularly hard about 5th and 6th though.

When is the last time you changed transmission fluid? May be worth a try.

Is it possible I bent the arm that goes from the tran. To the the shifter?

I had similar issues where mine would get stuck in between the 5-6 gate which they solved by shaving it down a little. However mine is a OCC SSK which is a metal ball. I would think your BMWP would be a perfect fit.

Shave what down?
Maybe I put too much grease and the ball is sitting too high?

Would that make 5 and 6 rough?

Sounds like you a. Installed incorrectly. B. Have some material/fabric from the shift boot underneath the knob restricting your shifts (look under you'll see what I mean, this also happened to me when I put mine in). C. Depending on what company makes the SSK, it needs to be lowered or customized a bit to work properly (also happened to me).

I bought a evo 3 a few months ago and had the dealer do it and they fucked it up. Had a small shop do it and helped the tech out while he was altering it and had it fixed up to my expectations👍👍👍
