The last 3 pictures, one of a good tip, and 2 of the other dented tip.

Oh well, I will call them tomorrow and see how they want to handle it.

Mine arrived today (1 day early which is cool because I stayed home to receive my winter set-up). Everything arrived undamaged, quality looks pretty good. Better (non cell phone) pictures will follow.

So lets see...

One arrived damaged...

One arrived undamaged...

And mine... they sent me the wrong exhaust! Does anyone need an Magnaflow for a 96-99 Chevy Tahoe?

WTF!

WTF!
I called them this morning and reported the problem and sent them the pictures, they said it should be no problem sending out a new one and picking up the old one.

The only problem is that John and the rest of the crew are at SEMA and it probably won't get solved until they get back.

I sure hope they don't send me your Tahoe exhaust

Yeah, totally.

But it looks like Magnaflow caught their mistake after they shipped me the wrong one, and sent the correct one the next day. So I will have the correct part tomorrow!

Rather Dissapointing

Ok I just spent 20 minutes writing my impression of the Magnaflow installation and the system itself, and my internet connection died. I don't have it in me to re-write everything again, so here's an abbreviated version.

Intstallation on a scale of 1 (easiest) to 10 (hardest) I'd rate the Magnaflow a 3. Install required a 14mm socket and a 15mm socket.
Comparison to the stock exhaust:
Magaflow feels about 2 - 3 lbs heavier.
Stock exhaust sounds better at start-up, under load and overall. I prefer the slight rasp and metallic sound of the stock system, the Magnaflow is quieter at start-up and while driving.
Magaflow has less drone.
Butt dyno felt no performance difference in systems.
This exhaust is much more mellow than stock, for those considering a new exhaust I'd look elsewhere.

Disappointed, I wasn't expected anything amazing, but I was really hoping for slight weight savings, slightly better sound & on-par-with-stock build quality.

Is it me, or does it look like the stock piping is just as big (if not bigger) than the magnaflow piping??

x2

Although if this does reduce drone it may work better than stock with catless downpipes

Weight is more, again I'd estimate 3-2 pounds, build quality is very good, fit was very good.

Stock size piping to the muffler is the same, the single outlet from the muffler to the talipipes are larger on the Magnaflow when compaed to the 2 outlets (each side) on the stock unit the size is equal.

Of course this is only my opinion, I've had systems by Remus, Milltek and Neuspeed on previous cars. I can't compare these against each other however in every other case the replacement exhaust was more agressive in both performance and sound. I know that exhausts "open" up a bit after use however I don't expect that dramatic a change on this system.

I'm rather dissapointed in the system (again for me personally) and I felt that my opinion for whatever it's worth should be posted. I don't have a good recording device for sound, if I can get one I'll post a sound clip.

From my experience with the 10+ magnaflow's we've done on e9x M3's the sound got louder/ deeper with miles as it broke in. However, the initial start up was definitely noticeable compared to stock.

Ordered mine from my supplier a couple days ago, should have it any day now, so will post video once I get it.

If its not loud enough, I may just gut the inside or possibly throw an electric cutout on it..

We'll see.

Hopefully the system will wake up from hiberation and come to life. I'm very interested to hear your opinion on the system after it's installed.

How does it look? I do like that larger tips than stock.

Why would Magnaflow make a system that is quieter and has less character than the original?
