Weird servic information/warning light on my dash.
Let's see how well I can describe this without a picture.
I got a service information notification light (in position #2, where the low gas indicator appears) for which I can't seem to find the meaning in my owner's manual. It's a circle in the middle of parenthesis that has a wavy line through the middle of it, making the circle look like it is half full of water. I flipped through the manual 3 times trying to see what this is supposed to indicate, and I can't find the symbol for some reason. It's a yellow light, and it doesn't stay on. I have to toggle through the menu with that little stalk on the left hand side of the steering column, select the service info option, and then I see the water-filled-circle-in-parenthesis thing. I want to guess some sort of fluid is low in the car, but I just don't know what. This is on a 335i, by the way. Thanks for any info you can offer. I don't want to run up to the dealership for this if I don't have to. edit: I just realized that there is an entire forum dedicated to these types of questions. Sorry! Mod, please delete, I'll post in the correct spot. Last edited by vbb; 07-22-2009 at 07:43 AM.. Reason: wrong section |

That's the HPFP warning light. The line indicates that it is working at half capacity. Make an appointment and don't drive anywhere you would not be comfortable walking back from.

it means you're due for brake fluid service. it should come up when you start the car, with the estimated miles left and date you should go in for service.

Yes, you also need a regularly schedule brake fluid maintenance in 8K miles. But that's not why your light is on. If this light is on and remains on in yellow, something is up with the brake fluid or brake system and you should get the codes read by a dealer.

It doesn't stay on... it comes on when I start my car, then goes away.
