Wouldn't it be more logical to buy it until the 991 4,4S,GT3,GT3 RS,Turbo,TurboS, etc etc etc to come out before splashing all that money!?!

GTR>911 Turbo FTW. (love the GT3,RS tho)

I priced up a 991 with a few goodies, $350k

2year old GT3, mint ~$200k more achievable and nearly in budget

I think most of us here are in the same boat. The R35 is a definite once the 135i rain is over. I still dream of my R32 GTR (my favourite car). The new GTR is a hell of a car for that price. Although I am more of a Porsche fan the prices are a little too expensive for a good one. I guess we'll all be catching up with each other in a few years on the Skylines Australia forum by the looks of it.

The R35 is at the pinnacle of motorsport performance, what it does in factory spec is nothing short of amazing but it's what it can achieve with a few basic modifications that blows my mind.

To sit here and debate whether you would buy a GT3 over a GTR proves my point, it's being compared with the best.

I love BMW's but I'm not a badge snob. I'll always prefer luxury brands over high volume selling Japanese brands if I have the choice. That being said, Nissan has basically gone out and done what no other Euro manufacturer has done today and made a car that is in a league of it's own.

Coming from an entry level no-frills 1 series that is all business I'd have no hesitation driving a GTR. The GTR isn't exactly a cheap looking car either.

I am sure if BMW made a no-frills supercar that you could buy today for 120k that is capable of what the GTR is doing we'd be all over it in a heartbeat.

BMW are making AWD ///M cars. It's already been confirmed.

If BMW ever make a car comparable in performance to the GTR, it wouldn't be $250K... it's be $400k+!

Economics dictate BMW won't ever make a car to compete with the GTR/911 etc and if they did it'd be hideously expensive. Who's going to pay $300-$400k for a BMW? That's well into 911 money and Porsche have been doing the sports car better than most for 50+ years.

They (911/GTR) are focused designs from inception to rolling off the production line. The M cars are the result of the M engineers going crazy with the existing template they have to work with, the end up with a great product but it doesn't have the concept focus.

Im so glad to see more 135i owners jumping into the GTR bandwagon. i'll watch out for SAU tho - filled with 15 yr old kiddies.

Yeah the updated version is worth splashing the cash for. The updated gearbox makes it bulletproof.

Im a badge snob and I can live with it. Its the best value for money car in history.... not just because of its performance but the usability. I think of it as a Bugatti and a Corolla under the same skin.

BMW confirmed they aren't making any "supercar" when they were asked if they are going to make a rival for the SLS. I agree with everything you say, but then theres idiots who would spend 300+ on a M6 convertible so you'll never know. Theres definitely a market for it just not that big

1q2w3e4r; There's no reason BMW can't make a viable super car. Looks at Mercedes SLS and Audi's R8? Sure the R8 is based off the Lambo, but with such limited numbers, BMW could still make a very good supercar if they were charging $400k plus. I'd rather spend that much on a BMW than a Merc?

I drove a 2011 911 Turbo once. Can't imagine the average driver would ever want anything faster... Cars in that territory are just a bit ludicrous (in a good way ofc lol)

I've had the same experience with a LHD version in Canada. Mindblowing to say the least.
