Debadge / De-model?

I'm after the sleeper look but not sure if this is a dumb idea, would like some feedback.

I'm thinking to either debadge or put another model on it, eg 118d. Some people are catching on to the 135i. Others.. well.. they think i'm lunch, only for it to turn out that they become lunch lol.

Opinions? Debadge or Demodel, eg. 118d. Don't do it at all?

I debadged as soon as I purchased. The 135i as far as I'm aware is always under estimated so removing the badge was just for an extra laughs.

Two weeks into owning it I actually got pulled over and the vehicle searched (I'm 22 so they were under the typical stereotype assumptions) and the police asked if it was an M3... they had no idea what they were looking at anyway.

Debadge it, confuse them more, it's cleaner and meaner.

The previous owner of mine took German deliver in the military and said they usually de-badge at the dealer or never installed them.

My 128i sport has no badges.

It's a no cost option. Many Germans don't want their neighbors to know which car model they can afford. That's why many do it. Also cars are taxed heavily in Europe. Most people can't tell which model you bought. You really have to look at the brakes or exhaust to know.

I debaged mine...

It is considered very bad taste to show off how much you spent. Most people choose the no cost option to have it built without the badging.

So far it seems debadging but not for the reasons I expected. It's just the culture in Europe.

Btw Dack, your car is so clean. Love it.

M badges are everywhere these days from factory.

I bought mine debadged, and then ruined my sleeper status with my number plate lol

For me I like to keep it at factory badge means if it comes with it then I'll leave it. I don't understand the meaning of its cleaner ?? If you mean flush look very seeing a badge then I agree. For those that are adding M badge on to non factory M badges those are the tossers!!

To most people might not know much abit cars unless they are an enthusiast. If I saw an e82 debadge with twin pipes first I'll look at the brakes to see what model is it. Plus often enough I don't go and simply race people unless I know it's a true M in my 1M.

If I debadge my car people will still know the model of mine coz of my number plate.

I de-badged when i bought the car from the dealer. its a convertible and they al think it's a hairdressers car.. till i put my foot down lol

With my sleeper turbo Honda, i had a subtle wing on it and decided to put Prelude Type-R badges on it (FOR THE LOLS). I would get laughed at at the lights... AND THEN

LOL fun times.

This makes no sense. Its a f@*king badge for christ sake. Who cares? Unless you are a car enthusiast you are not going to know the diff between a 118 and a 135. Nobody actually cares. If they do in Europe then they are all knobs, nothing to do with class. Its a badge.

I saw an N54 135i that had been modded with quad exhaust and body kit etc and had a M135i badge on it. It still looked good.

I did it as it cleans up the rear end and easy to detail. I have 135 in the plates though which I think sits nicely.

EU has more model variants right? 118, 120, 125, 130, 135? We sadly only got two.

I prefer to keep the badges on the car, just prefer to keep it standard. Whenever I see a debadged car I always think its someones whos trying to hide the performance of the car, even though it has the opposite effect for me (debadged cars stick out to me).

No one cares about the badge or even what it means. My friend asked me if that E82 118d in front of us was had a more powerful engine than my car...
