I'm curious if they offer any other trim options. I really don't like the interior at color at all. I am not saying all of this because I have an E90. I would have considered this car If I liked the design

The interior sure looks like a big improvement from the last model. When I was shopping G35-TL-3 series last Christmas, the interior, crummy Bose stereo, and lack of perceived power (in a 4 door, AWD, auto equipped model), were deal killers for me.

I looked at the older G35 before settling on the e90, and I'll tell you, that interior is much, much nicer then the older model. I might have gone for one if that model had been available when I was shopping.

Thanks for the photos. Pity it looks 100% an ugly car to me inside out.
I would be waiting for the 2007/8 GTR. The tail is most ugly. The interior is very plastic cheap. Sorry.

I can see where Japanese models like these not envoke the same emotions among owners as say a BMW or MB. I am always weary of them as they often change themes/shapes so dramatically between model changes. subtle things such as the color of bmw instrument lights hasnt changed in decades, while this G35 has a gimmicky purple, and the outgoing has orange. Its sort of the same reason Saab has not changed the location of thier ignition switch. The only thing they keep is that stupid clock. I dont hold the cheap inertior against them as much as they do cost quite a lot less than a 330i and I am sure if they spent some more $$ they would be better.
And yes, they (JAP Cars) dont seem to handle time as well as BMW, looking dated quickly. But I must admit that the G35 has made a mark in this category. Only time will tell is they garner the same affection as the BMWs do as they are only 3 yrs into this category. |

[QUOTE=KungFuJoe]Man...it looks NIIIICE. I always loved the look of the G35 coupe but hated the sedan...now it seems like the sedan has the sleek look of the coupe. Interior seems very nice, too..I wonder why the nav is recessed though...to reduce glare from the sun?
I like the interior but for all it's intent and purpose I don't see it as been practical. There was no ergonomical thoughts behind the design. The position of the controller for the navigation system should be close to the gear lever. Too far into the front area is not practical while driving and attempting to make changes. Albeit all the complains about the IDrive, I still think it is well-thought out in the layout. |

I was at the press conference yesterday and was most interested in seeing this particular unveiling as I was considering waiting for it to decide whether I should pull the trigger on my E90 or not. I'm glad I didn't wait. The cut lines on the side of this car look very awkward. The inetrior uses cheap looking/feeling plastics and the dash design is very busy. The rear looks tacky with that chrome "quasi-spoiler". It may very well be a good and fast driver, but in the looks department I like my E90 much better.

I know for sure this new G35 will steal many potential E90 buyers, including myself. I have to wait to see it in person but the exterior and interior style look good enough for me. Come on guys, E90's styling is not exactly what I considered great either...This new G35 looks much than Lexus IS350 too.
The interior of new G35 looks so much better than E90's horizontal 70's style. Very sporty. Infiniti claims it will have one of the best stereo system ever for a car with 10" woofer on each front door. Not bad. Even those hardcore E90 owners who still think the E90 is the king of sport sedan must agree that the margin got even narrower now. |

Well after reading all the other posts and looking at all the pictures, especially this last group, I would have to say: It does nothing for me, definately would not turn my head. That rear quaisi-spoiler (as someone put it) is just hideous. The crease/line going down the side of the car looks good till it gets to the rear wheel, where it seems to nose dive into the ground, giving the car a droopy rear-end look. The front is WAY too Nissan-ish (Maxima, Altima, M, G, they all look the same). Also I can say from sitting in an M at the Philadelphia Auto Show, that where they put the I-Drive-ish controler is not userfriendly at all. When I am using my controler, my arm is resting on my armrest, not hanging in the air like it is to use the one in the M, and now G. After messing with it for only a couple mins. my arm was tired, imagine using it everyday.
In all the car as I see it, is a MUTT. Its got the front end of the M, the rear end of the G coupe, and the interior is almost 100% out of the FX (see pics below). Not for me thanks.

I really like it...I'm getting a new car soon I was between getting the 330i or the next gen g35.
But I must say, it's not everything I was hoping it to be. After seeing this, I placed my order on a 330i yesterday. |

This is a funny thread.
NO one knows how this new G will perform, yet lots of comments already defending the E90. Then, the comments on the looks of the new G. Most of you must be new to BMW as you seem to have forgotten how much flack even then new 3 took for it's redesign. That G interior is modern compared to the sedate, and boring new E90 interior. The new E90 inside is not an improvment over the E46. Thus, it begs the question, why? At least the G is an improvement. I'll be ordering my 330i sport in the coming week, MAINLY due to the mechanical and performance aspects of the E90, NOT because of it's redesign. In fact, I've waited this long as I'm getting used to how it looks. There are some total disaster areas on the E90 that preclude me from poking negative comments on the new G, which I think looks much more cohesive in total design than the haphazard lines of the E90. Just take a look at the lower A pillar area where the junction of the hood, side front fender, door, accent line, and A pillar meet. It's horrible, and it's stylistic nonsense. Try to look at the new G from an open mind and you'll see that yet it has derivitive ques from other Infiniti models along with the G35, but it's a stylish evolution of the G35. That new G has much more character than the G35, and that's a GOOD thing. I wish BMW would have had as much stylistic success with the design going from E46 to E90, but it didn't succeed very well. I'm going for the bright red 330i as it seems the red allows the sporty lines to come through better while seeming to hide some of the disaster lines of the E90. |
