130i mod pics
Here are the photos of the mods to my 130i.
I fitted the group M replica intake which I bought from ebay and it was not without its problems. But buy cheap ($480 delivered) and expect to get reamed!) 1. The carbon fibre "snouts" i will call them, which suck air from in front of the radiator did not fit, so I have retained the stock ones (the carbon ones did have a wider intake, so perhaps this will reduce air flow slightly. 2. It is not a sealed air box at all, and the curves of the shell look like they are supposed to sit flush with the body work but there is a big gap 3. The entire thing does not seem to be mounted as securely as I would like, there is only 1 bolt that secures the carbon box to the chassis, and the rest is held in by gravity! and by the pipework that joins it to the stock BMW pre-airbox plastic (which itself does not lock into the new carbon box, merely just fits in. But it does sound ridiculously good, with a rush of air noise, deeper intake, and certainly feels a bit quicker. I just wish it would fit properly, but I guess I will have to make up some brackets. Other pics are of the exhaust, and matt black grille (I should have got gloss black, but it looks kind of tough) Also have wheels and tyres from a 135i fitted. When i bought the car the originals were on the way out. |

Exhaust is a custom one for Midas at Tingalpa in Brisbane. They are BMW enthusiasts there. Cost about $800 fitted, I looked at the the prefab ones for supersprint etc but far too expensive. This one is very light, does away with the restrictive valves etc and is loud but not too loud.
No warning lights on dash etc

I am on the southside at Coorparoo. As for the grille, was from ebay mili-motorsport. cost about $70 delivered photos with wheels coming, but doesn't look all that exciting. Slightly smaller rolling diameter at the front, so doesn't quite fill out the guard as well as the stock ones.

can you post a pic from the side showing what the 135 wheels look like on the 130?

Don't be slightly disappointed at all about it does not fit tightly. I don't think air tight matters that much in a NA car (or any car for that matter), the gap you should in the picture should have cool air, not warm air from the engine bay.
I used to think inducing air into a NA engine from outside will create some sort of air pressure to the engine (wishing to have a tubro until my 135i you see hehe). But I found out even I seal it properly, there is not enough pressure (measure by mass air flow meter) even the car is travelling at 200kmh on the front straight of Philip Island. But is look good and sound good. Good mod.

AS FOR POWER INCREASE WITH THE AIR BOX> not sure, is certainly better, but the sound is enough to give the perception of power. Don't really care about putting the car on a dyno at this point
