shouldnt matter. tire shops install tires starting with the inside lip. the outter lip will rest and slide on lubricated rubber.

...if I follow your question correctly.

A square 19x8.5 ET45 could work for those of us not pushing the power envelope. But I imagine certain commercial realities will see few if any new releases in our oddball E82 specific offsets, especially as the car is now out of production.

Having said that... the V706 is a nice looking rim...

Looked promising until I saw the size. VMR makes some nice looking cost effective wheels. I just wish they would target a bit more to the performance enthusiast instead of the aesthetic enthusiast. Size, weight, style and cost are all priorities. IMO 19s are too big for the 1 from a style perspective so it misses on what otherwise would be a nice style. Cost I assume is comparable to other VMRs so that is probably fine. Size is no good for the 1. Most VMRs are too heavy for my tastes. Looking forward to seeing the new lightweight wheel coming out next month. Hope it's in 18 inch sizes.

Love the wheel...while the offsets are not perfect 19x8.5 et45 will work for the front and 19x9.5 et45 will work in the rear with some work no problem.

I'm guessing the new VMR Flow-Form wheels are going to follow the current trend on being made in 19" sizing only - less than ideal for those of us who are performance-orientated on the 1-series platform
Please tell me I'm wrong
Another week of suspense is just too painful - perhaps release one new piece of information each day to keep the interest

My calculations show the ideal combination for those wanting to go as wide as possible would be front 18x8.5"/9" ET38-40 and rear 18x9.5" ET55-60, paired with the necessary camber and guard modifications - why would anyone bother going wide otherwise? Unfortunately, I rarely see any manufacturer making front wheels in these offsets with matching high-offset rear wheels to suit the 1-series.

And, just a couple footnotes to this:
1. Spacers are not always an option for everyone - using spacers on the street is prohibited here, so that rules out an ET45 with a 5mm+ spacer
2. Reducing the wheel track (i.e. increasing the wheel offset above ET52) on the street is prohibited here - not only that but the wheel track can only be increased by up to 25mm (i.e. reducing the wheel offset by 12mm)
Ridiculous laws Fortunately, this doesn't apply on the track.

Yes, initial release of the new Flow-Form will be in 19". That being said, being it a more performance-oriented wheel, 18" is in the plans

We weighed one of the new 19x9.5 ET40 Flow-Forms at 22.8lbs/each. The V810 in the same exact spec is 23.0lbs.

0.2 pound savings? I'm not sure I understand the point assuming that there is a price premium for the flow formed. Would like to know timing and weight for the 18 since the 19 really doesn't work for the 1er.

Apologies, to clarify the difference in the Flow Form I should've also included another wheel in the comparison.

V710 19x9.5 ET45 - 26.5lbs each
V810 19x9.5 ET40 - 23lbs/each
V710 18x9.5 ET45 - 23.5lbs/each
New Flow-Form in comparable 19" spec - 22.8lbs/each

^ Mentioned the 0.2lb weight difference for a better idea of what we can expect to see from the new wheel model (if the trend of it being lighter than the V810 stays consistent)
V810 18x8.5 - 20.4lbs
New Flow-Form 18x8.5 - TBD

No specific time frame on the 18s, as of yet. 19s are a tad more towards form as opposed to function on the 1er, but there are still a few 1er owners who prefer the looks of 19"

for 18" Don't delay it - Christmas would be nice I just wish it was sooner rather than later.

Since the new 19" Flow-Form wheel has a front 19x8.5 ET40, please don't revert the 18x8.5" to an ET45 (as is the case with the V810) - stay with an ET38-40.
Suggestion for 18x8.5" front wheel offsets: ET33, ET38, ET45 = everyone's happy.

So, as long as the new 18" Flow-Form wheels follow the 19" and have an ET38 (or worse case ET40) front offset, as well as the rear 18x9.5" ET57, it should be a breakthrough for those wanting to go w-i-d-e ! It might just be perfect! No more spacers to worry about!

V810
18x8.5 ET45 ... 20.4lbs
18x9.5 ET45 ... 21.0lbs
18x9.5 ET58 ... 21.0lbs

19x8.5 ET45 ... 22.0lbs
19x9.5 ET40 ... 23.0lbs
19x9.5 ET58 ... 22.4lbs

new Flow-Form wheels
18x8.5 ET__ ... __._lbs
18x9.5 ET57 ... __._lbs

19x9.5 ET40 ... 22.8lbs
19x9.5 ET57 ... __._lbs

Anything under 20lbs would be great - the more it's under, the better!
Could you confirm the above V810 wheel weights and fill-in the others that are missing for the V810 - I'll understand if you don't want to do the same for the new Flow-Form wheels but more than happy if you did

Can't say much as of yet... It's somewhat inspired by our V713 split-spoke

V810
18x8.5 ET45 ... 20.4lbs (I was told 22lbs ???)
18x9.5 ET45 ... 21.0lbs
18x9.5 ET58 ... 21.0lbs (Need to double check this one. I believe this one dips under 21)
19x8.5 ET45 ... 22.0lbs
19x9.5 ET40 ... 23.0lbs
19x9.5 ET58 ... 22.4lbs
Great feedback! Really appreciate it. I agree, hoping the 18" comes sooner rather than later.

18x8.5 ET45 @ 22lbs.. sounds more consistent with our non Flow-Form wheel models (V710, V701 etc).
