I haven't seen anyone do this. However, a while ago when the 1er first came out in the US people were getting the whole tail light tinted, including the white reverse light part. That part ended up looking more brown than gray for some reason in almost all the cars that tinted the whole tail-light. People generally didn't like that look, so I'm assuming that's why nobody really does it any more. If you find someone with tints that got it to actually look dark gray and not brownish, I'd be interested in pictures too!

The front end of your car looks great! Does the amber show through when the turn signal is on? Would be interested in doing something like that but don't want to end up getting a ticket...

On the fence about the rears...but is there any signal visibility issues with it? Sorry for hijacking the thread a bit..

Amber does shine through with signals on.. and no signal visibility issues with the rears either

What % tint did you use for the front? Did you use a darker tint in the part inboard from the reflector, or does it just look that way due to no amber being right up against it? Thanks! (Looking to do this myself or have the tint shop do it when I get my windows tinted...)

Edit: Your kidneys, are they matte black? I don't mean to copy, just really like how clean the front end up your car looks...the tinted ambers somehow make the car look wider from a straight-on view also.

I actually used a sort of chrome type of film to cover the amber up, then after i let that sit and dry for a week or so, i put the tint film over it.. Kidneys are matte black =)

This post kind of sums it up a little bit:
