BMW Routes - Anyone get this to work?

Has anyone gotten BMW Routes to work on a US car? It is suppose to work on 1 series with nav built after 9/08, but I can't get it to work. Here is what happens:

I am able to create a route online (www.bmw-routes.com/de/en/plan-routes/index.jsp), download it to my USB, put the USB in the car, and have iDrive find the USB. When I tell it to import the trip a screen appears that says “Import successful” then “OK”. But, when I select “OK” it takes me back to the trips list and says “No trips exist.”

Thanks. Part of the problem I'm having is my local dealer doesn't seem to know about this feature. I want to make sure it is not something only available in Europe. Part of BMW Routes works through Connected iDrive, which is not available in the U.S. But, the other part is suppose to work through the USB.

In the US, the Google Maps capability only allows you to send a specific address directly to your car. That is nice, but I would like to be able to create a whole route and put that in my car. BMW Routes is suppose to do that.

Great news. I got BMW Routes to work in the US!

The problem appears to have been the BMW Routes website. It was not working properly for US trips.

The trips I created in March and early April, once extracted, ended up being empty files (file size 0 KB). Today created some new trips, following the exact same steps and, once extracted, the files work fine (file size approx. 40 KB).

After I planned the route and clicked "Transfer Route To Vehicle", the next page said

"Transferring routes.
Has been started...

You are now logged in. Your route will be in the BMW Online portal saved. This may take a few moments."

I couldn't find the BMW Onine portal and there was no prompt to save the route to hard drive. What am I missing?

After creating and naming a route, click on "Transfer Route to Vehicle" and do the following:

1. On the page that comes up next, click on "Saving the route to USB memory stick" on the bottom right of that page.

2. On the next page that comes up, click on "Route herunterladen" (in the middle of the page). That will send the route to your computer's desktop. You will see a zip file with your route's name.

3. Move the file to your USB (right click on the file and use "Move to" to send it to the USB).

4. Once on the USB, extract the file there (right click on the file and click on "Extract Here").

You should now have a folder on your USB named "BMW Data". That folder will have in it a folder named "Nav" and in that folder will be the routes file with the extensions .tar.gz. Don't do anything with all of that, just leave it all in the BMW Data folder. Put your USB in the car (glove box USB, not 6FL) and follow the directions on the website to download.

Hope this helps.

This was the step I was missing. herunterladen = download.

Now on to herunterladening the file to the car.

Thanks again.
