Power steering fluid flush?

Hi Folks,

At ~60K, I'm thinking to do some preventive maint, such as coolant, filters, brake fluid and the like. I've seen it mentioned a few times here that the power steering fluid should be done, but a bit of searching is not turning much up.

I found a few articles offsite like this one which is for the E36\46:

Doug's Domain DIY PS Flush

But not sure how applicable they are for our cars.

Anyone done this here? Any guidance?

Someone on this site recommended the following intervals, which I follow:

Antifreeze: 60K
Brake fluid: 24K or every 2 years
Rear Differential fluid: 50K
Induction cleaning (N54): 45K
Spark plugs: 45K
Manual gearbox fluid: 50K
Oil change: 5K
Power steering fluid: 24K or every 2 years

I see something called Pentosin on getbmwparts.com. It's not cheap, but that's what I'd probably use. Just wondering about interval and procedure...

Forum member Rated-M3, posted a power steering fluid change DIY for a 128i, not sure if a 135i would be much different. He also later posted the UOA of the fluid after ~50,000 miles of use.

Mike Miller's schedule calls for a change every 30k. miles. Top of brake reservoir will tell you what to use. Our cars use Pentosin CHF 11.S . Do not use anything else.

Look at the PS cap, it will tell you which fluid is spec'd. Normally it's either ATF or CH11S (?).

IF your going to change the PS fluid, you might also just buy a new PS res and change that too. The hose clamps tend to leak after awhile and the PS res has a built in filter - which wouldn't hurt things to replace it.

Thanks again for the responses,

Anyone know anything about Pentosin's CHF 202? Some people say (forums, reviews, etc) it supercedes CHF 11S and they can be mixed no problem, but I can't find anything official on it.
