I've had this same problem since my first test drive in the car. Salesman said it was a normal sound and with all the other stimulations of the purchase day it slipped my mind to ask them about it again. Now, 9 months later, it seems like the clicking is getting louder and is affecting the passenger side as well as the driver side front wheel.

It was so loud this morning that I am thinking I want to get it in to have them look at it. My car is bone stock with stock wheels and RFTs. Wonder if it has anything to do with our heat?

I have the same clicking sound and I've had it for a long time. I first noticed it with stock suspension, stock wheels (264) and run flat tires. I've since changed to vorshlag camber plates and non run flat tires... I still have the clicking sound.

My dealership also tells me it's the rotors and it's normal, but as someone else mentioned that doesn't seem to be the case. They said the 6 series cars also have the clicking sound.

Has anyone else gotten rid of the clicking sound? So far the successful changes mentioned above are:

1) wheel bearings
2) lug bolts

Mine clicked when hard cornering, or when turning full-lock going slow. It stopped when I installed my Apex wheels and new tires.

I think it's the rotors or rotr hats, possibly caused by uneven torquing of the lug nuts. Many people report the sound going away after simply removing and reinstalling the wheels. Uneven torquing of the lug nuts I think might cause the rotor hats to warp, with the clicking coming from the rivets that hold the rotors to the hats (I believe this is how they are constructed).

Nobody has really actually figured out what causes this noise.

Update... The clicking sound stopped for now at least. I just had the front brake pads replaced. The rotors were not changed. The wheel bearings were not changed, and the lug bolts should be the same old ones.

So it seems to be a matter of mounting the wheels and torquing the lug bolts a certain way. I've been driving slow because of the new pads so hopefully the clicking sound won't come back when I drive the car harder.

Glad to hear, mine also went away but I replaced my aftermarket lug nuts. Whala no more clicking. My local dealer says that replacing the rotors will fix the clicking 100% of the time. I decided to try a few other things first and the lugs nuts were the issue for me.

Thought I'd chime in since I experienced the same issue. As someone else pointed out, the sound is almost exactly like baseball cards in the spoke of a bicycle. Fast clicking when cornering, seemed to be coming from just the right side of the front end and could be heard when turning in either direction, but possibly louder when turning right than left.

The dealership confirmed the noise and immediately replaced my front rotors. They explained that the rotor is multiple pieces and if there is the slightest of play, it makes this noise. They claimed it's not a safety issue and the rotors would've performed, and lasted, just like a non-clicking rotor, but that they replaced it under warranty anyway.

I have this issue also and as was mentioned, the sound went away for a while after only unmounting and remounting my wheels. A week later, the sound is back and driving me insane when driving around parking garages where the sound of the clicking is amplified.

The clicking sound is back. I had a track day yesterday and they clicked away on every turn.

Does anyone have BMW slotted or drilled rotors? Do they click too?

I've been autoxing my car since 08. It's been doing the clicking since day 1. I may have even started a thread about this issue. I originally was told the dust shield needed to be retorqued. I've replaced the pads 3 times with stock pads, and 2 different types of race pads. Replaced with control arms with the M3 control arm kit, E93 M3 front swaybar, Coilovers and camber plates, and with all that the clicking is still there. At this point I've learned to live with it but I really hate it. I've also replaced the stock rim with apex arc8s.. I'm gonna poke around next week when I put my track pads back on and see if i can figure something out

I've noticed this starting on my 135i the past month and I am almost out of warranty, should I have BMW investigate? I have aftermarket VMR wheels and Dunlop Direzza Star Spec tires on the car.

Finally, I get rid of the clicking.

The SA said the clicking noise was caused by the friction between the tyre and the rim, somehow there is a gap where not properly fit due to less tyre pressure (below the spec). Therefore, they did release all tyre air, did the refitting and weight balance.

I was told by my dealership this problem was caused by my wheel bearings. Turns out it was actually my front tires needed to be replaced. :-/

So I couldnt find anything that makes the noise. I find it hard to believe about the tire/wheel gap thing cuz its been happening with stock and aftermarket wheels/tires. at this point, ive learned to live with it. Everyone i know with a 135i has the same exact issue. Sometimes it goes away but it always comes back

I used to have this noise as well. It disappeared when I upgraded to all the ///M suspension bits and new shocks.

Only happens when turning to the right and only comes from the front right tire. If I go to a parking lot and cut the wheel hard right and drive is small tight circles the car constantly clicks, one after another quickly. Click, Click, Click, click, etc...

Wheel bearings? Any ideas? Thanks for the help.

Squash.
Did the clicking sound click faster when you go faster in turn? Did you roll over anything big with that wheel before?
