Do I need alignment after install VMR V710?

Hi,

I bought a set of V710 with hankook last week from eas mounted a balanced.

I brought it to my friend's shop to install it.

He told me the rear tire is leaking and he re-install the TPMS and it's ok now.

But today is my first day driving the car, the car seems steering to the left... I am not sure is it because :

1) Tire pressure
2) the rear wheel/tire is not balanced again after he dismount/mount it. (does it matter?)
3) I should do a alignment every time I change the wheel/tire?
4) or something else?

Thanks for input.

This is my new wheels on a dirty AW.

Check the tire pressure and try to drive a few miles on a flat road or somewhere without a pronounced crown. You don't need an alignment after installing new wheels though.

Definetly check the pressure and make sure that you follow manufacturer's recomendations. What size of tire are you using in the back? Looks a bit smaller. They look nice though.

Those wheels seem a little wide for your rubber. I'm running 7.5" in front and 8.5" in back with 225 mm tires and 255 mm tires, respectively. I would say that this is probably the most common set up on this site.

I don't know if it's causing you any problems (it may be perfectly fine for all I know) but you definitely CAN go for wider tires if you want to.

With the +45 front and +50 rear offsets we offer, 225 is as far as you'll want to go up front. 255's are a possibility in the rear at stock height.

To the OP,

Like the others have said, I would double check all 4 tire pressures to see if they are within spec.

Has your alignment been ok before the install? Any pulling or uneven tire wear on the old setup?

Charles,

My alignment was Ok before. I will definitely check the tire pressure first.

I bought my V710 from eas.

Their invoice shows me the rear is ET45. But their site says ET50.

On your VMR site, it doesn't show ET50 at all.

but in your quote, you said ET50...

I am confused on the rear 18 x 9.5.

And I also notice my rear is sticking a little out.

Here some pics:

For our V710 wheels we do offer them in a 9.5 +45 and a 9.5 +50 offset. 9.5 +45 can work but the widest tire possible would be a 245 tire. With a 9.5 +50, we have found that some narrow 255's can work.

I would make certain that a +50 rear was supplied if that is what you requested. If they sent you +45, contact them and have them swapped out as that is not the 1-series offset.

I am running an identical setup. VMR710, +45F, +50R. I have 255 Hankook V12s on the rear and I experience no rubbing even with a lower suspension.

Check the offsets first.

Charles, where is the offset inscribed on the wheel? Is it on the inside?

Your steering probably just got knocked a little bit. It's so easy to push the toe off and that'll cause your steering to be off as well.

I would treat this a personal matter between you and the vendor and recommend taking down that invoice. Contact the sales rep at EAS and work it out with him.

I dont' think the 45 vs 50 offset will matter if you're sticking with the 245 tires. It may, however, prevent you from going to 255s if you want. The 710s are really nice wheels which I might have got if I had waited longer.

As for your pull, my opinion is that you need the alignment checked. You might also check the camber to see if it's consistent on both sides. Once you that's fixed you don't need to do it again (unless you hit something) and you can change wheels yourself without any concerns.
