Thanks so much for your response! I'm glad we have such a knowledgeable drag racing guy on our forums! Aside from line-locks and TC, LC are any of the other tools you mentioned (anti-lag, two step, etc.) available for the 135i?

your best option at this point in time is the Procede due to it's ability to lower your boost settings to what you want in first and second gear.
if you put fatter stickier tires then stock on, you can obviously raise the boost a little so you can optimize the traction better. as for Mr. Blonde, 2nd gear starts on drag isn't uncommon to some makes and models, i've heard of many eagle tallon/mitsubishi eclipse people doing this. Also heard of the ZR1 crowd doing this to get the best launches with the launch control. on the Ariel Atom, it's actually recommended for the best 0-60 times to optimize the power to traction. I personally think it's nuts and really hard on a transmission, but that's probably because i've blown several transmissions and several clutches in my time. I don't doubt that a company will come out with a rev limiting unit sometime, it's just a matter of time and priority, but until that time, all the companies are still working to crack the BMW ECU and figure out how to optimize every last bit of this engine before taking that next step. |

well, if you want to be a dick and all technical.
I've heard by reading, watching, and even talking to people who have done it in some cases. but since I've talked to someone in person about doing it, i have to be wrong and a dick online must be right because he's never come across the info. Think before applying fingers to keyboard with a bad attitude. |

and sorry, but having a license doesn't make you an expert on the subject. Just like having a drivers license doesn't make me an expert driver, or having a motorcycle license doesn't make me an expert motorcyclist. It's just something that allows you to do something, not be an authority. so please leave the know it all attitude behind and participate instead of trying to insult people for supposedly knowing less about something, when the fact is you just proved your own ignorance instead. You're right about all the other stuff, but that just shows what level of drag you're into, and as far as street cars go, not a lot of them are going to have the features you're talking about. |

I'm not to worried, I'm just trying to correct misinformation. Not saying i'm an expert, because i'm definitely not, but, what i've seen people do can't be unseen. And i whole heartedly agree that it's possibly the hardest thing you can do to ones transmission. But people still do it and get results.

I had a built transmission from RIP engineering my old talon with an upgraded clutch...2nd gear was def used to launch the car for drag...1st gear was a waste for me...and it's done pretty commonly.

I had a Cobb AP on my old STi that had a map for launch control and flat foot shifting. It was great. FFS almost worked like an anti-lag between shifts. But then again the Subie ECU is a pretty easy nut to crack. It would be nice if Cobb could pull it off with the 135 though.
