I ordered mine in November of 2007...5 months before the official launch date. I had never driven a BMW and didn't test drive anything. So many BMW's on the road....how can you go wrong?
Sometimes you just gotta believe

I originally went into the dealership to buy a 128i, test drove it and it was lacking the power i was craving for but wanted it anyways. So as we where putting it together my SA said they had a 135i with the trim that i wanted so we checked it out and he suggested that we take it for a spin while he worked out some numbers. Thats all it took and i drove home with a 135i instead. You're going to love the 135i

I ordered mine without driving a 135i manual. But I did drive a 335i manual. Honestly, I don't think I would order one completely blind.

I'll join the club- I did not test drive the 1er before ordering. Dealership only had a 135i in automatic, and I was getting a 128i 6-speed. Going on faith, good reviews (professional and 1addicts owners), and BMW's reputation. Know it will be an awesome improvement in performance from my Acura RSX Type S--a good car for FWD. Looking forward to some RWD performance and BMW quality.

I ordered my 135 after test driving it 6 times. But I knew after the first one that I'd buy it.

I knew I wanted a 135i when BMW announced in June of '07 that they were bringing it to the US. Ordered in Jan '08, test drove a 135i in April '08, ED in May '08, redelivery Jul '08 and have loved all 10000 miles.

Although I will order a 135i this year, I have yet to drive one, despite the offer from one of the salesmen. Mainly for fear I'd be driving the thing off the lot for good shortly afterwards, and not get the options I want at a good price.
I will say I've read ever review ever published I could get my hands on, including a few esoteric ones online. So it won't matter. I want it, period. |

Technically I guess I never drove the exact vehicle I bought. I drove a 135 and a 128 coupe at a 1 driving event and then drove a 128 vert off the lot but never a 135 vert as they weren't available when I ordered it.

I ordered the manual without driving it. Drove two automatics and the CA wanted me to drive a 3-series manual to give me a feel what it would be like to have a manual. I declined saying I've never been disappointed with any manual in any BMW I have driven.

Took other car in for service and got a 335i loaner, which opened my eyes - WIDE, AND SLACK-JAWED - to the BMW inline 6. Followed up with two test drives in 135 before reaching for checkbook. And I still thought I was being hasty and impulsive!

I heard about this car in the summer of '07. I phoned my local dealer on Aug. 1st. '07 and placed a small deposit. Never seen one, never sat in one, not to mention never drove one. Picked mine up Mid April last year. It went back once for the Alarm install at the end of April.

I ordered my 135 over the phone from a dealer 90 minutes away without ever driving one. My wife was not pleased with me. I love my 1er but I probably wouldn't do that again.

I didn't test drive a 1 at all, of course I had an 04 325 prior, so I figured it couldn't be worse than that....Of course, I didn't test drive my 325 before buying either.

Mine was one of the first to come into Portland and the demo 135i my dealer received a week or two before my car was off-limits to me because I was too young at the time.
But our 335i give me a pretty good idea about how the car would drive. |

I drove a 128i vert. auto prior to me getting a 135i. Actually the 135i was already on order. I guess the only thing I got out of the test drive was the chassis feel, because the 135 and 128 are two very different animals.
I just took a friend of mine on a ride in my 135. He was very quiet during the trip. At a loss for words maybe. After we got back to my place all he could say is "that's one impressive piece of machinery". |

Wow. And here I thought I was all brave for ordering a color that I had never seen and an option they couldn't explain. Suddenly, I feel much less bold.

The Smartphone integration. They didn't have much detail on it and didn't mention I needed to order the specific cradle for the phone. But, I figured for $150 it might be worth it. The jury is still out since they still haven't release the iPhone 3G adapter. All the original iPhone adapter seems to do now is just charge my phone. It's a damn expensive charger for now.
