Exhaust Tips

Anyone explore retrofitting the new M Performance exhaust tips on the 1M (from either the new M3/M4 or M235? Looks like will be able to purchase the tips separately, just not sure if the diameters are the same or not.

On a similar theme I've been looking for some carbon fibre tips for the standard exhaust.

I've found that Lightweight now do a set.

Does anyone know if these will fit the standard exhaust system and also fit the standard rear diffuser?

Are yall just looking for the tips for the sake of looks? Why not get an exhaust system with tips you like. But check what diameter the exhaust piping is

@JM35

I don't really do much cruising in mine - mostly country road fun miles - so don't get too affected by the drone at certain rpm with the standard exhaust.

I actually quite like the standard exhaust sound so for me it's a cosmetic improvement as I don't like he standard tips.

I also do not like the standard exhaust tips but would like to keep the original exhaust. Do not really want louder sound.

The Lightweight tips are designed for the original exhaust and will fit. I have been in contact with a few BMW dealers and all claim that it will not be possible to get hold of just the M performance tips. But according to one of them it will be possible to order the rear section of the exhaust by M performance with tips similar to the ones for available for the previous 1 series.

I have e-mailed Lightweight to confirm but no answer as yet.

The downloadable certificate suggests that they will fit the standard system but the translation is a little poor, and they're not cheap...

I received a response from Lightweight a few weeks back confirming that the tips are specifically made for the OEM muffler. They look nice - 76 mm outer diameter - a bit larger than OEM.

Is that right? I though the OEM tips were 80mm but I could be wrong.

I've not measured them (yet) but according to another post I saw on this forum the standard tips are 76mm OD.
