I got 7.3 seconds! I am on auto transmission. Should i turn off all traction control completely?

you need to shift to 2nd gear to get faster speed increase after 5k rpm on 1st. Your gas is just revving the engine on 1st. Its not converting to work.

I tried in both modes, and shifting manually in couple different ways, and ..... unfortunately that's what you get with a combination of an auto transmission and N52 engine.
How many miles did you put on this car?
The reason I ask is because you will notice slight difference in performance after a full breakin.

I am going to turn off all traction control, and leave it in sport mode and see what that does. Is there a way to quick start automatics? I know rev in neutral then dump it into D but I heard that is very bad. I tried holding the brakes and pressing da gas but it only went to 1.5 rpm. I heard something else you could do with hand brake? I just dont want to damage my car xD

Holding down the brake I think I revved to about 2k rpm and then released the brake while gradually applying more and more gas. I read that this is the fastest way to launch a slushbox (rpm may vary) but I didn't get consistently better results than just launching normally (lift off brake completely then floor gas)

What are you using to track your 0-60 time and what should you use to track your time? 2 part question

Also, was the car fully laden? How much gas was in the tank? Was there a head wind? The list could go on...

Did you air down your rear tires any?

What are you hoping to achieve...sub 7 second and why is it so important?

assume these questions are directed at the OP, but i'll answer them for my own car first...

1) dynolicious (iphone app) and stopwatch
2) should use a g-tech

3) car only had me in it (i weigh 160lb)
4) 1/4 tank gas
5) no wind
6) rear tyres slightly under recommended pressure

I dont think revving in neutral then shifting to drive is going to do anything for you. traditionally what i do is just kill the traction control by holding down the dtc button til the alert triangle comes then pop it into sports mode, hold down the brakes and then gas it up to around 3k. Then let go of the brake. That way, you can do the whole burnout effect too. ps. hands on the ten and two oclock positions

try again with
-DTC on
-one foot on the brake one foot on throttle and launch at 2k
-shifting at 6k instead of shifting at redline

How fast do you think it should be? I'm pretty sure BMW used to quote 0-60mph for the auto in 7.0, you aren't far behind. The automatic on the 128i isn't as good as the 135i. Also, are you using precise instrumentation for testing your time?

The bmwusa.com website indicates 6.1s/6.7s manual/auto.
I'm pretty sure those aren't the original numbers they put out when the car was released.
