cp-e Cast Bellmouth Downpipes install and review
So I got the cp-e DPs yesterday and drove right around the corner to install them. From memory, I pulled the splash pan and the two small splash pans behind the front wheels. THis allows removal of the 90 deg brace. I then removed the two torx bolts holding the steering rack and pulled it toward the front of the car for a little space. The front widebands followed and were allowed to hang. Next the V-band clamps were loosened and the catback was unbolted from the DPs. The brace for the exhaust was loosened so that the catback could be pulled away from the DP. I then unclipped the wires from the read O2 sensors and pulled the DPs. I had a friend back the rear O2 sensors out with the DP removed. Installation was the reverse. It's not real hard. It's just a little tedious and very tight up there. Total time was about 2.5-3hrs. I'm betting I can get it to two next time.
I have some crappy cell phone pix so I'll post them but they pretty much suck. As you can see, fitment is perfect. Here are some pix from long ago when the first casts came in. Driving impressions: Response is greatly improved and I would say there's even more low end torque than before. Sound increase is minimal. I have the catted version so that may be why. I think I can hear it a little more but if so, it's very slight - a little more throaty. It really feels stronger throughout the powerband. It's definitely a mod you can feel. |
