Strange Noise

Hi Guys,

Hoping someone can help.....I have a strange noise coming from under the bonnet. It kicks in over around 1500 revs and get's worse the more the revs build. It's the 'crackling-like' noise..not sure how clear it is in the video.

Car is a 2008 135i coupe.

Something needs attention. Water pump? Turbo waste gate? Valves or other bits up top? VANOS?

How many miles and how have you treated her? Track days? Outrunning Scotland Yard? Only to church on Sunday?

Sorry I am not much help, but diagnosing sounds like this is difficult.

That noise is not good and I would get it checked out before more damage is done. Like Mackeroni asks, what was the maintenance like?
