Old Video - Berk 135i Test Day - Oversteer Issues
Hi all,
Here is an old video from one of our first track days with the 135i. At this time the car had KW V3's, 255 street tires all around, and an H&R rear sway bar with the stock bar on the front. We initially thought we would be struggling with understeer with this car, so this was the first setup we tested. Turns out we went too far in the other direction. This made for a car that was, er, fun to drive! The video consists of two hot laps with a "fun" lap at the end (since the tires were cooked anyway!). Hope you all enjoy this: http://vimeo.com/1845567 |

Berk added an H&R front bar, adjusted ride height, added more rear negative camber and more rear toe-in. With those changes we tested again, and then went with our own custom spring rates based on driver feedback and some suspension analysis. Now the car is very very good and we are looking for little things to improve on

J Tyler, did you guys ever consider some of the M3 suspension components? Bushings, tension rods, etc?

Well they are wrong! These cars are a blast to drive with the right suspension components.
We have, and I know those things would help the car on the racetrack. However, Berk is on a budget, and their original goal was to build a fast street car with parts that were easily 'bolt-on' to showcase what a streetable/comfortable 135i could do on street tires at the track. They wanted to build a car that would mirror the mods that a typical 1Addicts member would consider doing, so that they could provide good feedback/info to the forum. So, in light of that, other (simpler) mods came first! But we'll see, maybe sometime in the future. |
