Sport Shift question

I have a question about sports shift/DS drive in the automatic cars. What is the proper way to use sports/DS drive? Do you need to be at a complete stop to go from D to DS/M or can you switch while driving?

You can shift to DS at any time while driving by moving the shift lever over to DS. No need to stop to change. I go back and forth from D to DS all the time depending on the road conditions and traffic. I prefer to do my manual shifting with the shift lever rather than the paddles too.

Yes. You can shift to manual using the shift lever (or the paddles) once you shift to DS or you can use the paddles to shift to manual even in D. However, if you are in D the transmission will shift back to automatic after a few minutes. If you are DS it won't.

As a rule, the car will develop a sportier feel if you leave it in DS all the time. The ECU and transmission control unit will work together to improve the driving experience. Vice versa, if you are light on the throttle all the time and leave the automatic in D, everything will detune a bit and you'll have slower shifts at lower rpms.

The only time you might not want to be in DS is during a snow storm, when you actually want to be in M2, and not driving more than about 30mph.
