I know, I know...this has been discussed a million times but I can't find a definite answer.

I plan to get the CSL replica's from Velocity motoring in staggered 19 inch, 8.5 front and 9.5 rear. I have an E90 330i w/ sports package, I do not plan to drop.

Am I better with M3 offset, or going with the E46 standard offset with spacers? If possible I'd rather not deal with spacers, but if thats going to look the best...then I'll do it.

If you guys could please steer me in the right direction I would be EXTREMELY GRATEFUL

you can calculate this.
my wheel has 9" front and 10" rear.
the offset is 35mm and i know it fits and nothing rubs.

FRONT:

my car with 9" and 35mm offset:
9"/2 = 4,5" = 114,3 mm
114,3mm - 35mm = 79,3mm

now you have 8,5" wheel with offset X mm:
8,5"/2 = 4,25" = 107,95 mm
107,95mm - 79,3mm(from above) = 28,65mm
So 8,5" wheel with offset 28mm would be perfect!

10"/2 = 5" = 127 mm
127mm - 35mm = 92mm

and your wheel has 9,5" with X mm offset:
9,5"/2 = 4,75" = 120,65mm
120,65mm - 92mm/from above) = 28,65mm ( surprise )
So 9,5" wheel with offset 28mm would be perfect!

Now you know if you want to order the E46 offset and use spacers or try it with the M offset and dont use spacers.
if you dont wanna drop your car, maybe a little less offset would fit 2!

an 9.5 rear +28 offset

One member posted about a week or so ago about how the m3 setup for those wheels gives him some pretty serious rubbing in the rear.

Go with the non-m staggered setup... I think youll enjoy it that much better...

I have the H&R race springs with velocity csl replicas e46 offset 19"8.5 x 19"9.5 an 15mm H&R spacers an it fits just right. If u dont plan on dropping too much the m3 offset should work. Because some people have complained about rubbing with csl replicas m3 offset an they have 265/30/19 lowered with H&R race.

foo i have no idear waht you just said...

mikeymike, just go with the e46 offset, stay on the safe side. no one really know what the e90 offset is for aftermarket wheels. i guess its too new. i heard e90 can go really agressive but then some people is complaining. if i was you i go with e46 offset and add the spacers later. maybe not all e90 are made teh same.

here is an example.

i got csl rep from desiel007. i added a 20mm spacers and it was rubbing a little. i didnt mind. when it was past on to dean325i witht he same setup he didnt rub at all. dean325i and i have h&r race springs. i am confused myself. so stay on the safe side, get e46 offset and offset it later with spacers.

Just a thought, do you think maybe the brand of the tire has anything to do with rubbing issues? Maybe some tires are bulkier than others, even though they are the same size?

yes, some tires are more bulky than others.

With the tires available through mike and **********s, I would choose between the BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW 2's, or the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3. Obviously you can go with better tires like Pilot Sport PS2's, but to me, that is an overkill...


If you email Mike, he will give you a price quote for all the tire options, and they do come mounted and balanced...

Your calculations were so confusing. He doesn't need to know how to calculate it, but some advices.

From my M3 set up 19x8.5/40mm and 19x9.5/20mm with very aggressive tire sizes: 245/35 F, 275/30 R, it rubs in the rear when going over the deep holes or big bumps at high speed.

My recommendation to be safe without using spacers is stick with 35mm-38mm offset on 8.5" in front and 30mm-35mm offset on 9.5" in rear for sport package. If you plan to drop, go for 35mm offset all around.

confusing ? you dont even have to read my calc. just the 2 bold lines
so my suggestion is 28mm offest front and rear
but of course you can also take 35-38 mm offset - my opinion -> 8,5 offset 35-38 at the front will be far to much.

Some tires are definitely bulkier than others. I have BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW 2 in 19" and they are bulky I was rubbing on dips and turns with these so I had to get my rear fenders rolled a bit and now no rubbing issues. the tires are freaking sweet though. They grip like crazy The Wheel shop I went to suggested getting 1 size smaller tire? dont know if that is safe though He said 1 size smaller tire will make the sidewalls slanted therefore no rubbing.

i think he meant go with 1 size thinner. not smaller as in diameter wise. so say if you are running 275 on a 10 wide rim, go with 265 or 255 so the tire are stretched. then it wont rub.

28mm in rear is very aggressive for 9.5" wheel and 275/30 tire size, but acceptable. I'm not sure with the ZSP on some dips.
28mm in front is not a common offset even it still works, but not sure with 245/35 tire size on ZSP.

I don't see any disadvantages having 275s for the rear, as long as you use spacers. Otherwise it will be some rubbing on bumpy roads.

On the other hand, they look good and feel great even with the factory suspension like I have.

I have some 19" 9.5/8.5 all with a 38 offset coming. They are wrapped in 235/35 and 275/30. I got 10mm spacers for the rear. Hopefully they work out when they get here Fri.

I will get H&R sports as well.

I think I'm going to stick with the 235 for the front 8.5.

I was between 265 and 275 for the rear...but I think I'm going to go with the more aggressive 275

One of my mates drives 19x10 with 265/30 on an E46, looks perfekt if you ask me.

also, my alpina roadster has 265/30 on 19x10 dynamic wheel.

I have 265 on the rear with the 19" CSL reps (Wheelmax), 10mm spacers, and ZSP. Works and looks fine.
