What to buy?
I have recently bought a 128i at the end of July. The car is absolutely amazing, and it is my first BMW. I am wondering if there are any upgrades that I can purchase at a reasonable price. I went to BMWUSA.com to look for a air intake, but their prices are too high. Basically what I am asking, is there anyone who knows what, and where I can find performance parts that will add some HP but for a decent price.

There are lots, if you explore this forum, you will find a whole bunch. Use the "search" at the top of the forum. If you go to the main page, you can see sub-headings, "Marketplace" On top of that you can find specific people in their own areas talking about what they order, and why, and what they look like. BTW Welcome to the site! This is the biggest 128/135 site I know of... Have lots of fun. It's not all serious car stuff too... just a lot of ppl who own or love the 1, having fun. Oh my favorite way to scan the site is using the button at the top called "New Posts" then you can see what ppl are saying every 5 seconds. If you want to check the thread you posted in, just click on your own name to see all the threads you commented on. Have fun!

Does anyone have any recomondations to what I should look for, something that is not to expensive but can add HP, I have looked at some of the adds and what other people are putting into their cars. My last car was a 2005 envoy denali, all I had to do was put in a cold air intake on it for 300$. I checked for an upgraded air intake on the 128i and its around 1000$. Any ideas?

The last issue of european car reviewed three products for the 135i one of which is a turbo tuner so that wouldn't work for you but:
Eurobahn cat-back exhaust $799 rear section $499 center section It's 45 lbs lighter than stock and louder too. They showed a gain of 6 hp and 7 lb/ft. AFE intake $399 This one might be cheaper for the 128 because it looks like the one for the 135 has two intakes. I don't know if that's true on the 128. But, they found a gain of 7 hp and 7 lb/ft. The Turbo tuner was from Split Second and was $599. They found gains of 60 hp and 62 lb/ft. But since the 128 is NA, it wouldn't work for you. Good luck. |
