Winter tires sets, is this a good deal for 1000$?

Winter is coming we can't hide from it. Better start looking at the car shoes. I'll need a need set or rims and tires because I don't want the hassle of swapping tires twice a year, especially with the rft surcharge.

I was looking at some Motegi MR118 17" in black, it would look good with the dark blue of the car, even more after I blacken the window trim.

With a set of Hankook icebear, all for "only" 1000$.

The center cap would have to go.
I know it's no BBS, but they will have to go through winter...

I have a few question about swapping the wheels. First, I read somewhere that Canadian model don't have the TPMS, so I should be OK with only the rims and the tires, no need to buy sensors? Will my car throw any warnings? Will the speedmeter still be accurate?

No need to buy sensors. And if you are going 17" then you just need to make sure you buy the proper tire size in order for the speedometer to be accurate. The stock 17" tire size for the 128i is 205/50R17 I believe. That's what I bought for mine and it drives fine.

$250 a corner with wheels and tires is pretty good.

I think my set of 18's cost me about $1800 and that was from Tirerack.

Sounds like a good deal. I got a used set of 17inch m3 replicas with dunlops for 600, so new sounds like a good deal.

Just figured out I need spline bolt. I forgot the bolt I had on my 325 were of this kind, tried them and it worked. I was due to order another set because the stupid mechanic used an impact gun and broke the adapter.

I was looking at this

http://cgi.ebay.ca/Chrome-Tuner-20-L...item35a9a4503b

Anyplace else I can get these?

I also found out that the standard E36 wheel cap will fit like a glove.
Anyone know where to find those custom cap. I remember a site where I could have got Carbon fiber look with deep sea blue.

Of course pics will come as soon as they are installed.

I ordered some black carbon BMW wheel cap. I tried with some old standard cap made for E36 and it fitted the hole like a glove.

Ahhh... Barum... highquality Czech tires. lol I think Conti owns them. They are really cheap (quality and price wise) over here.

Made in France it says on them, but I don't care where they are from. I'll see how they behave and adjust accordingly.

Installed them today, there will be some freezing on Monday, so I better get ready. Got my splined bolt earlier this week, I'm just missing the caps and nice weather before taking some pictures for you. Took a short drive on the highway, the tire pressure warning came on. I didn't checked it before, I trusted the shop . They were all at 40psi except one closer to 30..., adjusted it to 32 front and 29 rear, reseted the warning and it didn't came back after a highway run. The feeling is definitely different, can't say yet if it's for the better or worst.

I'm waiting for my wheel cap, it will be prettier. I've run them for a week now. I've had a little wobble in the steering, adjusted the pressure in the front, kinda better, but not perfect, I'm wondering if they did a bad job when balancing it.

I ordered winter tires and wheels from Tire Rack since it's easy and you can't touch their prices even when the shipping, taxes and duty are added. They did say as a Canadian model I did not need TMPS but I called the dealer and they definitely stated that TMPS is required if I didn't want the warning light on. Who's right?

As far as I know, all canadian model don't require them, change dealer if you can or tell them all their car don't need the 200$ tpms they are trying to sell. There is none on mine and no error, I'll show you the bills and dashboard if you don't believe me. I got almost same price locally than tireracks, and I got them mounted/balanced at no charge, plus if anything goes wrong, I know where to find them. No offense to tire racks, I'm sure your service is A1.
