i think they look hot..

but like most of you said, not worth the price, we are already paying a lot for the car, let alone some bmw "hand made" performance parts, gimme a break 5k for seats.

I might have seriously considered them had they been an option when I ordered. But now I'm so used to the stock sport seats which are great, I am no longer even considering them at 5K outta pocket for seats with BMW stitched on them.

It's more than stitching. A Recaro will cost you $1000-2000. Airbags are a couple thousand, and something you won't find on aftermarket seats. Adjust for potential BMW product liability increase, and you get to $5000 retail pretty quick.

I love the Performance seats and the Recaro ones will never fit the car as the performance ones! This little details are so important, Its the same as getting aftermarket m bumpers etc instead of factory one. The BMW when designing knows how to make stuff fit the car perfectly. I'm getting those straight with the car delivery even though I would have sports black leather seats anyway!

The Recaros are the BMW Performance seats. BMW hired Recaro make them, and they are the same seat with a different covering (and airbags for the BMW version). There should be absolutely no fitment issues.

but that finish, the details, stitching etc makes them look like real performance bmw seats and not aftermarket tuning boy seats. It's good they are made by recaro so we know the are good quality and profile but the latest finish specification was made by BMW so they match the alcantara gear lever etc.

For that price I would rather go with an actual Bride or Recaro.

I would either leave the stock seats or change to those. Others just wont look good in this kind of car. (it is not supped up toyota cellica or something)

Hey rbernard1984, I think I saw your 1 series at the LA Airport on Thursday Night Oct 2nd. Was that you stopped in the drop off area?

You are paying to the name. They are the same seats.

I wonder if the recaro sportsters could be ordered with partial coral red leather to match the factory interior? Maybe red on the side pieces and black in the center.

A Larryn mentioned above the BMW performance seat is made by Recaro. Recaro actually have the seat on their website.

Also the Recaro sportster CS mentioned above is available with airbags and is also available in red

According to Speedware Motorsports, they cannot be had in the US with airbags.
