I have the base audio system not the hi-fi, so it seems not to be an audio system based problem, seems more generalized since either system and either car have had this issue. I haven't had this pop up again since that day. Also, I didn't have a long crank yesterday morning, but I did today, and I started it cold in the afternoon with ambient temps in the mid 70's. Car is running great otherwise. I'm going to try a bottle of "heet" and a bottle of injector/combustion chamber cleaner (I prefer Techron), just to see if maybe I've accumulated some moisture in the tank due to the big temps drops and high humidity we've experienced this week. It can't hurt. I'm under a 1/4 tank right now, so I'll get a fresh tank of fuel and some heet and cleaner. I'll post if anything changes after a 1/4-1/2 tank of that. Anyone else try some Heet and/or FI/comb chamber cleaner? |

Yeah, it sounds similar to vapor lock, but, that doesn't typically happen in a cold engine, and not generally in modern fuel injected engines. It typically happens in a hot engine with carbs.
I don't think it's vapor lock. |

Apparently I spoke too soon in my post. My HPFP just started acting up again and when I started my car today to take it to the dealer, the stereo wouldn't work. RPM90, you have my attention.

Odd, I know. About the only thing related with these two very different systems is that they are controlled by that little "black box" of electrical mystery filled with lots of 1's and 0's, that may forget which they are at times. Well, interestingly I have not had any ore long cranks since the last tank of gas ran out and I filled up again with different brand fuel. And, I haven't experienced a stereo issue since that one time either. Doesn't mean one, the other, or both won't come back, but for now they are gone. |
