If Dinan got a hold of a 135i and did the same mods. Then the 1 might actually come out on top. Time will tell though...

Looks to me like the suspension tuning of the M is what sets it apart, not the power. That is what helps the M3 beat other contemporaries even with less torque, and that is what would possibly "beat" a tuned 1 series. On top of the suspension, I'm sure that the M's quicker steering ratio adds a lot to the sharp turn in.
In the real world, I'd take the lower pricetag, better fuel economy, and similar performance of a tuned 135. However, I'd take an M3 over the 335 because it's top dog of the 3 series line. It would just eat at me. If you couldn't afford the real deal, then go ahead and get the Dinan 335. That's also the exact message it says to me, too. That's not to insult as I can't even afford a 328. |

Great video. I still would go for the M3 if I had the jack. Its all stock and ready to GO. Reliability with the M3 IMO would be MUCH better.
Whats strange is the Dinan 335i 1/4 mile times??? Shouldn't it be more like 12.7 or so??? I have seen 335i sedans with an SSTT run 12.7 b4. |

Word. That's exactly the quote I was referring to in previous post in this thread.
You can do whatever you want to a 135i, you can add another 200hp, upgrade the suspension so it runs circles around an M3, doesn't matter... An M car is an M car. And that's coming from someone who's never even owned one and wants a 135. Most of you here know you would rather have an M3 over a 135i if money wasn't a problem. But it is, so the 135i is the next best thing, and that's why I want one too.

I don't know. I am not sure if I want the new M3. I would rather own the E46M3 w/ comp package. Right now 135i and the old M3 look equally appealing to me. 135i for the power and M3 for the sheer driving experience.

^Two weeks from now the Susan B. Komen tour comes to town, the M3 is reserved, should be interesting. I am very curious to see how the 135 and M3 compare.
