Gas Mileage

This is to anyone that had delivery of their E90. How have you guys been doing with the mpg. I know that during the break in period you shouldnt be expecting great #'s. So far I've put about 150 miles on the car this week, most of it was highway driving and the onboard computer says im gettin about 21 mpg. How did the rest of you guys do on your first tank?

PS: i have 330i w/ auto

I'm up in Canada so were using litres and kilometers. So far I've been getting what I think is great fuel economy, or maybe its just my gentle driving in breaking the car in. I've gone exaclty 400kms and I have a bit under the 1/4 mark on the gas meter. So i should be able to squeeze out at least 460kms on a full tank.

Hi apex188, I too am a fellow Canuck, Vancouver Island based. I have been wondering about the gas mileage. I am planning on purchasing a 325i with a manual. I wonder if the 325i will be more fuel efficient than the 330i, since it has less horsepower I would assume it probably will? Of course I will also benefit with better fuel economy with a manual.

I have to ask, where did you purchase your car? I may end up coming to the mainland to purchase my car, maybe Brian Jessel. Did you manage to get any price reduction or was the dealer firm on their pricing?

I hope you are enjoying your e90 :rocks:

Take care

Gas mileage should get better over time. Consumes more at first I think.

Yes I got mine at Brian Jessel. I know the guys, bought before and referred many to him there so I got a deal but as with most BMW's and esp brand new ones like the E90's there not too much of a discount. Its in great demand and will be one of their best sellers, so the market is really supporting the full pricing on it. Got around 1300 off the price....hopefully that was a good....
If you need a contact let me know. At least they will throw in some goodies etc.

I've actually been pretty amazed with the range I've got from the first two tanks in my 325i. 620km on the first, 630km on the second.

I drive mostly highway (avg 120 km/h), and have been pretty easy on it for the break-in but still darn good.

But just past 2500km, so redline here I come! I'm going track the consumption on my Palm and report later...

Thanks apex188, I think you got a really good deal considering it is the first year of the new e90. I have heard that Brian Jessel is the largest BMW Dealerships in Canada for sales volume with average monthly sales of around 100 cars. I have had some phone conversations with one of the sales people there, Francis and he seems very knowledgable. When I buy my 325i this fall I will definatley go and see them.
Thanks again for the info. and enjoy that beautiful car

Hi Brandon, that is pretty good gas mileage. I wanted to say thanks for putting up the pics of your car. I shaw them on one of the other threads. I am planning on buying a 325i in October. I too am going to go with the Sparkling Graphite. I plan on getting a manual, sport pkg & aluminum trim.
How are you enjoying the car so far? How is the SG to keep clean? What is the power like with the manual on the 325i? I have driven the 325i in an Auto but have not had a chance to drive the 325i in a manual.
Did you consider going with the sport package? Were you pleased with the price you purchased your car for?
Have I asked you enough questions???
Thanks

No, that isn't the reason I am waiting but I am curious about the comfort package. Can you elaborate on what it is and what it might cost?
Thanks

On a trip of just about 200 miles, mixed freeway, hills, and canyon I got 29.3 going, and 32.4 coming home. I love that extra feature on the radio display. Check it out, you can reset your average consumption, average speed, etc. It also displays your remaining distance using current average and tank setting. On the radio, hit the (Menu?) button above the radio station adjustment, select (BT?) the first one that is highlighted, and you will get all those displays. MPG/KPG selectable. Highlight a particular setting and you can reset it. No, just the baseline model, so not sure where it is in the iDrive.

I am doing a lot of city driving and am getting 16-17 mpg. I have not been driving it too gently either, sticking to the maximum allowed in the break-in period, been pushing it to 4500 rpm often and to 100 mpg whenever I can on the high way.

I have driven 900 km on my 330i 6 speed manual so far and am getting 10.5 litres per 100 km driven so far (about 26 mpg). I drive about 50% on the highway and 50% in the city and have been driving it pretty easy to break the car in. So far I am pleased with the gas mileage, my 2002 330xi 5 speed manual that I traded in was getting about 12 litres per 100 km.

I am in Vancouver and also bought from Brian Jessel and bought from Andrew Hong. He was very pleasant to deal with, non pressuring, and thorough and gave me a discount in line with what the other posters have mentioned on here. I would highly recommend him.

Took the test today. Over 150 miles, I averaged 75.1 mph and 32.6 mpg. That being said, I was driving very conservatively...then I had fun for the next 50 miles and the economy went to 31.7 mpg but still thought that was pretty good!
