he also thinks every car "has such linear power. <grin>." i mean he wasn't expecting a 700 hp vehicle to have power but it does! and he also never expects a car to be able to steer, but imagine the fact that it has a steering wheel and goes where it's pointed!!!

True, but consider that we are a select few. The fact that we are as enthusiastic as we are means we're not most of their target market anymore (most people don't chat about cars). BMW is trying to sell the neutered version of themselves, a version the majority of the market seems to think they want.

A " select few " 2500 people bought the cayman GT4 in about the same time frame.

Do you know why these figures are so small?

According to Porsche .. only a " select few " 5 percent of their buyers wanted a manual gearbox in the 911. So they stopped making the 911GT3 with a manual. Guess what happened ?

A " select few " Porsche owners made their voices heard and the 911-R was made and a " select few " buyers bought all those up as well!

Now Porsche says that 30 percent of their buyers want a manual in the 911 GT3.

Don't let the manufacturers twist you around bro.

Incorrect. The best BMW ever made was the ZHP e46 330i, 6MT of course. Followed by the e46 M3. 6MT, obviously.

We don't have to rehash this every few years whenever somone feels like making a new video about a 1M.

The 1M gets a lot of fanfare due to its limited production. And I don't expect the novelty to wear off anytime soon.

Come on guys. It was an after thought made from the ///M parts bin. Not a true purpose-built ///M car.

Man I sure love my "parts bin, not purpose-built m car". Wouldn't trade it for any other M car available in the states especially the bloated pigs! Apparently a lot of other people feel that way too!

I love your enthusiasm and passion! We all drive what we love and appreciate, and I respect that.

My comments are in no way meant to demean your 1M, but rather reminding people of its root and how it has evolved. And placing it in its proper historical perspective.

I also wholeheartedly agree that it is very likely a much more enjoyable experince than most cars in the modern BMW M lineup. But then again, I am a purist and prefer small, connected and visceral cars versus spread sheets and lap times.
