1///M FTW... Though, I'm sure the Ford is a good car and probably better bang for buck, I think the BMW will be a more enjoyable car to drive and you'll see far fewer of them on the road. Plus better warranty and maintenance included. Those add up for me.

2011 Mustangs, V6 or V8, are great bang for the buck. But they are not a luxury ride. Sporty yes, luxury no. Depends on what you want. If you want luxury & sporty, then it will cost you more but you don't want the Ford.
Did you see where Motor Trend rated the Genesis couple 2nd out of the V8 and V6 sporty cars they tested? It could be another candidate for those who want a nice car but not really a luxury car. I changed the differential fluid on my 1 this weekend. I found the fill plug has an O-ring. I wonder how long we would wait to see something like this on a Ford. This is only the latest "better way of doing things" I have discovered. If you care about how the little things are done, you go BMW. If you want to spend less and can live with a more average way of doing all the little things, get the Mustang. You can have fun either way. Jim

The V6 Genesis did not beat the V8 Mustang GT. As it stands, no car any magazine tested as beaten it in a direct challenge. |

You come on a 1addicts board asking for a vote? lol
IMO the 2 cars u have don't compare at all. The 1series M will be priced more similar to a Mustang GT 500/cobra..

Sorry but the M1 does nothing for me. I would buy a Mustang GT and with the difference buy an E46 M3.

Because ownership experience is typically better than borrowing. I can rent a 6 series or just about any luxury make in any major U.S. city. I'd rather buy one.
Or in that case, 1M vs Camaro Z28. Spy shots were taken a few days ago. Its gonna have 556hp. That motor in the heavier CTS-V makes it run 12.2 all day long. |

I'd have to agree. V6 Chargers are quite gross and I'd want to give it back too. Dodge really lost the plot with the interior on those cars. I was quite shocked to see the interior of the new Jeep Cherokee! I never liked those cars until now.

If we were talking about the 2012 Boss 302, it would be a different story. Stay tuned for a (road, not drag) track oriented stang on it's way that is going to have a trunk load of 'foots' for people to put in their mouths.

The 2011 Mustang GT is been called the poor man's M3. That is E92 M3 FYI. GT500 is a different class all together. Sorry I like the new 1 series M Coupe but lets be real here. It is the bottom of the rung in the M division.... |

Because of the overwhelming urge to quote the Ford Mustang product line in all it's iterations, I have been thoroughly educated on it's performance capabilties.Hell, I've learned almost as much about the specs of Ford products as I have about those of BMW, while reading the threads on this forum. The FACT is,you have no sense of humor.

I dunno about the Mustang, but the 1 series is the right combination of ride comfort, power and handling. If the M1 can achieve this w/ greater performance
Anyone else smile when they drive their car around? |

I looked at the 2011 Mustang when looking at candidates for a new car this past spring. The 2011 Mustang is such a different car from the <2010 year models. They significantly upgraded many of the materials in the car, but what ultimately turned me away was the style of the car, which hasn't changed. The retro aspect just doesn't appeal to me, and that's important to me in a car I have to drive every day. Also, they still use a lot of the same construction techniques that they used in older models. BMW uses more refined production techniques. For me, this was important.
From a performance standpoint, the Mustang is clearly the winner. However, the 135i still qualifies as a "fast" car, and will keep many people satisfied. At sub-5 seconds 0-60 and mid 13s in the quarter, it is faster than many other "sporty" cars, and equally as fast as many sports cars. The turbo charged engine feels very torquey. In day to day driving, I find the car very satisfying. Everything written above is subjective. I don't measure the quality of food at a restaurant by weight, and I don't measure cars by stats alone. You have to decide what your priorities are. If you want performance first and refinement second, go for the Mustang. You won't be disappointed. If you want refinement first with competent performance, go for the 1M. Likewise, you won't be disappointed.
