Would you guys in the US pay ..............

Would you guys in the US pay $73,000 for a nearly fully loaded E90 330d M Sport ?

Going by today ex rate of 1.74 this is what my E91 would cost you if bought here in the UK.

Would you guys over the pond pull the trigger on our crazy prices or not.

Is the car really worth that much in your eyes ?

Well, compared to what you would have to spend on a Honda accord or Toyota Camry, yes. Relative to the standard 330i, a 330d + Msport is another $5k, well worth it. I would definitely put out that much more for one if it were available here. The relative exchange rates are a bit misleading. Compare what you would have to spend on a 2,000 sq ft flat in London to housing over here...

Man, I think you should move over here (USA). Things are cheap here, with possible exception of housing in Boston/NY/CA area, but most folks live outside of those areas (hence Bush keeps winning the elections.) And especially, if you're in the mood for Chinese made merchandise, well, you're really in luck - dirt cheap. Additionally, we have plenty of high-paying jobs, although not as many as before (outsourcing is big here), still evidently more jobs than in France.
And we hardly pay any taxes here, especially if you're very rich, maybe with some luck, we'll be paying even less. Of course it's not that easy to come here (legally I mean, especially from Europe), still, it's easier than from some Arab counties (it's a recent change).
Yes, buy a BMW, German economy needs a lift and as Germany goes, so goes Europe

Hell no, I'd be at the porsche store with that much cash

the biatch of the thing is that we can get a well optioned cayman or a stripped 911 for that much cash.

but I bet where you live a 911 is more than a 3 series, so it's not really fair to compare

So you have a big Vat AND an Income Tax?

You MUST be getting something for free that we are paying for here.
Or, you are getting royally screwed.

Completely misleading - it is relative to the standard of living of the buyers in each country.

Exchange rate per se are not indicative of relative standard of living as much as an approximation of relative GDP strenght.

I will bet relative to what it costs as a percentage of average income to service the acquisition of that car (which of course cannot be compared bcs we niet have diesels) there is not much difference.

Someone in Sweden pays much more because of consumption taxes, luxury taxes, but then again that person has no individual medical insurance to worry about, and UI benefits are more genreous, and he does not have to (perhaps) save as much as we do because state pension exists and is relatively generous and he/she may live in an appartment cooperative etc. that is rent controlled et. etc.

you can't really compare it to the states. The salaries and cost of living is also different. Where I was from, car taxes are 120% so a S class cost what a Ferrari cost here. And there are tons of S class around....so if you like a car....i don't think price really matters, but you have to make use of it.

Exactly, in Europe, where consumption taxes are high and luxury taxes kill you (Thank you Green Party), car ownerhsip has transfered from the individual to the corporation (for the most part). Luxury cars are called executive fleet cars, large corps rent them for the benefit of their employees, from high ranking all the way to sales reps and in between. In Germany, what you drive says less about how much you earn as about your social rank in the corporate hierachy (which is just as important there). While there is of course some correlation -this state of fact is reflection of the tax makeup of those jurisdictions.

Executives make perhaps relatively less cash than here, but they have wopping S classes paid for them, appartments rented for them, and if you are a VW member of the Workers Council hookers paid for them

Well let's talk about Greece prices (for those who wondering where is Greece, look on the map on the right side of Italy - we are on EU). I bought last May a 320i (2.0 lt with 150bhp) with sport package, leather, black saphire exterior (no i-Drive, no electrical seats, no auto sensors for rain or anything else). It cost me 41.000 Euros (something like 48000$, 1Euro=1,17220$). As far as my monthly salary is about 1500 Euros. I must say that I am a well paid greek citizen. Now you guys from the US have you anything to say about prices? The 330i in Greece costs about 60000 Euros (Sport package, no M-Sport) that is about 70000$. Now you can understand how little you pay for what you get.

We aren't lucky, we worked very hard to insure our government wouldn't fuck us in the ass on taxes. In fact, we revolted because of them.
