I thought I read somewhere that the 335i will debut in the E92. If true, we could see it next summer'ish?

I would be shocked if the 335 were limited to the E92, at least in Euro. I guess BMW NA might do something that sick. Sure hope not. This 335 business is really enigmatic -- we get bits and pieces of info, obvious facts of testing etc., but nothing substantial from the only source that matters. Will the 335 be a staple model replacing the 330, or a specialty sports version? I will buy it either way, as long as the price is reasonable.

BMW Test New Turbo Engine
by Brian Potter
10-13-2005

At first glance it appears the BMW 5 Series models seen here wearing a slightly different front bumper depict the upcoming facelift. But in actuality they're test mules for BMW's upcoming new engines particularly the inline six cylinder turbo. Set to debut in the 335i Coupe (E92) sometime this winter the modified front bumper is designed to accommodate the new engines with increased airflow. The 5 Series will receive a minor facelift much like its predecessor, the E39 5 series. But it's safe to say that these 5 Series models are not it.

I can see the logic of a debut of the 335 in the E92, but I repeat that I would be surprised if it is limited to the coupe. I certainly will not buy a 335 E92. But I will jump at an E90, or better yet, an E91. My guess is that many Euro buyers feel the same way; the big Q is whether BMW NA will see the light for the US market.

When is the last time that salesperson knows anything? And even if they do know the real answer, they will say no since they want you to buy a 330i NOW!

I'm waiting for nothing more than the right time to get a new car... with an imminent move, this likely isn't it. It's not as though I'm suffering in the meantime... except from insane depreciation

Drive safe.

Waiting is not my thing either. The 330i is awesome....and a 335i with M-Sport package sounds even better in a few years.

I'm with MTMnet, selm and ase3dais At some point you gotta stop fantasizing by reading this forum, get off ure butt and pull the trigger. I been able to enjoy this awesome car for months now and no regrets even when a new model comes out... that's how technology and innovation works.

The rumor used to be that it was going to be turbo. It was even printed as conjecture in some auto mags and websites. But now those same sites and mags are printing other info leading recent rumors to be that BMW has changed their mind and is only doing a direct injection engine. Some people claiming to have BMW calendars say the turbo is definitely out.

So far no one has been able to verify either way on this point. You seem certain in your post. Do you have any sources you can cite that it definitely will be turbo?

Some people are only on their arse because they want the coupe. As for sedan people I agree... pull the trigger otherwise you will constantly be waiting for the next change thats always around the corner.
