no idea what you are talking about.
And... of those 17,184 E30 M3s produced only 5,000 came to the US.

The E30 M3 SIG estimates 2,000-2,500.

This is true! The Regensburg plant was still producing the E46 M3 coupe & convertible along with the newly released E90 3-Series sedan. E90 production began in March 2005.

You DO realize how many 135i's BMW builds/sells in the states each year?

Answer... it is less then 12K per year. Atleast that is the number I remember seeing in Bimmer mag each month for the monthly (US) sales updates.

I agree, I was hoping for a limited number of these cars. I will need to wait for a confirmation from BMW before making any changes to my deposit though. That is if I decide to change it at all.

I went to my dealer yesterday, and what he said:

1- 1M will be available for sale mid-next year
2- All he knows is that it's going to be 6-cylinders
3- I asked him if it's a limited production, he said it's not but as the case with all M cars it won't be mass production
4- I asked him when I can put deposit, he said to come by Feb and to put around $15K

Really? I'd wouldn't have thought they were selling nearly that many 135i's in a single year

I think that was the total yearly sales for all 1 series in the States, not just 135's.

That's it. They sell about 2500-3000 of each model per year give or take...at least that's what happened in MY 2008.

Absolutely no way they'll sell more 1M's than 135i's given the much higher price and limited options (color, transmission) that will scare many off and steer them back towards a 135i. Selling 2500 in a year would be *very* optimistic I suspect. Somewhere between 1500-2000 might be more realistic.

CSL

The graphics were inspired by the classic 1975 3.0 CSL and of course the 1973 BMW 2002 Turbo, but with a modern twist as how it might be applied to the E82 1M Coupe.

JS: Is there a possibility of a “CSL” type version of the E82 1M Coupe at the end of its life cycle?

BMW: Anything is possible, we have ideas and the creativity to expand. In the end it all comes down to the reception of the car. 1M is more personal than any other M car. It has to be more upfront with the customer because it is developed entirely for the customer who want something pure.

As it stands E82 production will be online till summer 2012, 1M will finish around the Spring, We have Cabrio production lasting till late 2012 in which they have produced a Cabrio model. We have a Cabrio unofficially. Reaction to the Coupe will determine the Cabrio’s existence as will the GTS/CSL type car.

If BMW does produce a limited edition 1M Coupe, I imagine the similar treatment they did with the GTS with lots of track oriented performance upgrades. With the second generation 1M Coupe speculated to be released in 2014, I doubt that a special edition of the E82 1M Coupe will ever see the light of day. If anything, we’ll most likely see it happening on the second gen model with a longer term production. But either way, US will probably be left out again.

Ok, I have looked thru my old issues of Bimmer... the last sales chart I could find was in April of this year. Here is a photo of the BMW NA sales numbers. For 2008 M.Y. they sold 11K 1er's. For 2009 M.Y. they sold 10K. Don't forgot that BMW says their sales for 2010 are up like 12% I think. Not sure what the breakdown of 135i's to 128i's sales are.

Those look like year to date numbers as of November for each year (in order to compare apples to apples). You would need to add the December sales to each total in order to get the yearly sales for each year.
